I would be looking for damaged pins on the suspect ECU - either outside in the plug or inside where they run to the PCB. Solder pads can crack, leaving no connection even if it looks solid.

The other thing to look at is just maybe (some of) the pin(s) in the back of the loom plug for power or earth might be pushed back a bit. There might be just enough variation between the length of the pins on difference ECUs for one to make contact and another to not make contact. Look inside the loom plug and/or push them all in from the back to see if one or more moves and clicks into place.

rb25 an rb20 ecus have the same power in.

also i checked i checked all the pins an they sweet as, i chucked the ecu im trying to power up into my mates cef and it lights

up an runs fine. then when i go to chuck it into mine, nothing, not a sign of life. is there some sort of auxiliry power or signal power which tells it when to turn on or something? just spitballing now
