Well, It's going to take up a bit of space in here but anyway:

I re-did the thermal compound for the second time the other day (with better quality stuff this time) and put it all back together. Started the PS3 up, all good. Downloaded some DLC, all good this took about an hour or so? Then I shut the PS3 down and went out for dinner. Came back, fired it up, played F1 2013 for a little bit with the controller just mucking around, no problems. Played a bit of GTA 5 for a while, no problems. Paused the game walked off, the thing shut down, blinking red light.

It's the same now as it was before. I started the thing up the other day to see if it would let me play F1 2013 for long enough with my wheel, Got just past the main menu to start a race, shutdown, flashing red light. Tried again, got sorta into the race then shut down.

But its weird, sometimes I go to play COD Black ops 2 (mine goes straight to multiplayer menu), and when it connects to online servers the thing shuts down. But if I can get past this, it seems I can happily play that online for as long as I want. I had about 5 games the other night without an issue. then the next day it will do the same thing (turn itself off and flash red light)

thought it might have been a wireless issue, but plugged the thing in and still did it. It will sit at the XMB menu forever without an issue (AFAIK anyway) its only when I start trying to play games it has a problem

I think it might be hard drive, but I'm pretty slack to buy another hard drive and then have it not be the problem

I bought the ps3 when it first came out, the 60gig that is backwards compatible. died about two years ago, with the flashing red light. bought another since that I use in the media room.

ps4 recently died and had it replaced for free by playstation. Did a bit of reading on Australian consumer laws before I gave them the call, just in case I had any issues etc. Based on what I learned from that, I also gave them a call last week about my ps3 that died. The initial consultant told me that they do an exchange for $175. Told him that according to Australian consumer law, that even though the item is out of warranty, if it does suffer a major malfunction within what is considered a reasonable lifetime of the item, they are still required to make an attempt to replace it, if available, or to make other arrangements if no replacements are available.

Got informed that he would have to get a supervisor to give me a call.

Supervisor called the next day, and left a message as I couldn't take the call. No arguments nothing, just left me a message saying that they will replace my seven year old playstation, I just had to provide proof of purchase.

Long story short for those not wanting to read the lot above, sony will still replace failed ps3's, as long as you speak to a supervisor, state Australian consumer law and have proof of purchase.

bit late for me, I bought a PS3 500gb with Assasins Creed: Black Flag and The last of us in a pack for $290

good price at least, but free would have been better. Maybe I can get the 2 that I have laying around replaced :)

On the topic of wheels, does anyone know if the older wheels work? I have a Driving Force Pro GT and hoping it will work on the PS4. Forgot to test it out on Need for Speed before I sold it

anybody played any decent 4 player games on ps4? low budget is fine.

I played a lot of supersonic acrobatic rocket powered battle cars on ps3, and am looking for similar, low budget types of games to play with mates. haven't come across similar on ps4 yet.

I'm not familiar with that game title :P

I have no car games at the present. I actually just started playing The Last of Us on PS3, because I got it free. Kinda want to get it on PS4, but why pay for something I already have I figure. Good game but

What games were like 'Twisted Metal' style on PS3? I'm having trouble thinking of any at the moment

Apparently towerfall is supposed to be great with friends.

I've been reading a fair bit about the wheels for PS4, i currently have a G27 which will not work on PS4 as the G27 has a chip reader in it that makes it incompatible with the PS4, have read that Sony did not pay Logitech for the wheels to be compatible apparently =\ as i use the G27 for sim games on PC as well, i'm not willing to fork out $600+ for the wheel compatible for PS4 and PC so i might consider getting a cheap wheel for PS4 =\ there is a petition for people to sign so they can make G27 compatible for PS4, but i doubt that would be going anywhere even if they get the numbers they wanted.

Driveclub out now, anyone picked it up? Think I might go buy it tomorrow, even though I'm not real sure what to expect

It's fun but the servers are rooted at the moment. Also the good shit like weather and replays aren't even released yet which is f**king stupid. if you have PS+ you can get a demo of it.

Ended up buying it. Has been fairly fun so far, but the servers seem to be up now

Just need to convince some friends to go online and play it now. Not alot bother with online on PlayStation anymore

    • who can tell me what this is and why my car talks to me? i think it's hilarious. it's on my r34 right above the drivers-side storage compartment. the characters under the wrench say "inspection". every 10 or 20 startups, a voice starts talking in japanese from some speaker in this area below the dashboard. it says a few sentences then shuts off. different from the ETC card reader voice that happens every time i start the car. I've never found the speaker, i've never been able to catch the voice and translate what it says, and i've never found a forum thread that tells me how to reset the warnings. the holes in between the symbols are NOT buttons you can press to reset the warnings. anyone else have this? has the demon lord from Hereditary infected my car?!
    • Would you ever vent this bonnet or will it be unnecessary?
    • Happy new years folks! Wishing you all a successful year of money pit ownership!  So the subframe bushes are out....   Ok, who else has done that job before??  What a C U Next Tuesday of a job that is!  Be glad to not do that again in a hurry! I think I explored every option available to chop the middle section of the bushes out, most of them unsuccessfully! I tried a holesaw, die grinder, normal drill bit, air chisel, etc, etc. The true success happened by accident when I'd decided to try a step drill I spotted on the bench on the way passed.  See, there are benefits to never cleaning up after yourself! It RIPPED through so so much better than the drill bit. It has to be the skinniest one available so its small enough to fit between the inner tube and outer casing but it made easy work of it.  First one i hammered the shit out of... New method- 20250102_185506.mp4   I did the other 5 in less time than I fluffed around with the first one. With the first couple I used the cut off saw (sawsall as the yanks love to call them) to cut a break in the outer casings. Even with that they're still a prick to hammer or air chisel out.  The last few i just went rambo with the air chisel without cutting them. I over cut one of the early ones so will hit the with the mig to fill the cut then sand it off smooth.  The carnage left over-   I've also been "nesting" ie, cleaning up my babies nursery,  ie cleaning the f**king pig sty of a shed. I've got that much shit laying around it's as cluttered as my head!  Getting things put away, in boxes, on shelves, hanging off walls, all to get some working space back again.  Hopefully that keeps me motivated....
    • AFAIK does the base map for Haltech even have the 4D compensation enabled? It's been a while but when I looked at it I remember it was actually using pure TPS as one load signal and MAP for another. Seemed workable but not ideal by any stretch. A lot of people have "make the event-itis" which leads to stuff like this happening.
