Due to having an import car (yay!) and a non-functioning A/C system I am having serious trouble hunting them down.

No mechanics I've dealt are able to get any form of import air conditioning pieces.

Is it best to find a wrecked car and try scavenge the parts? Is there somewhere reliable I can go to organise getting my A/C working again?

Cheers!

Ring an import wrecker and get a compressor off them, if they say they have one that looks better/is known working and they want $50-$75 more then one that they are not real sure about, then go for the known working one. They can be had new/recon but they are a bit hard to find and can be a little pricey. Had a mate that went through all of this on a 32 and ended up costing him close to $2000

Before you put the new Compressor on, get a full flush on the system and then have it vacced down for leaks. New reciever drier if its all good and put the A/C Compressor in and get it gassed.

If there is damage anywhere else in the system (condensor, evaporator, lines) you will notice either during flushing or when the system is vacced.

But any good auto electrical and air conditioning workshop should be able to do this all no worries anyway
