Hey Guys,

Chasing some help here if possible for those more knowledgeable than me. I puled of the CAS unit on my 25/30 motor to fit the front cover back on. I marked on the head and the CAS to make sure i mounted it back in the same position.

I decided to turn it over and heard something break so shut it down. Pulled it all apart and it seems the "Half Moon" nub on the end of the cam where the CAS sits broke off.

My question is, is it possible to line the half moon on the CAS with where it sits on the cam and line the markings on the outside of the CAS & head and it all be fine? As far as im aware its the teeth on the CAS that keep it in place and rotating and the half moons are just there to assist sitting it in there.

Once back together i turned it over and it idled fine. Took it for a drive and all seems exactly the same, nothing seems to have changed.

Whats everyones thoughts on this? In my cam f**ked or should it be ok.

Any assistance would be great.

Pretty common issue. It can be done but must be spot on. As you said the teeth engage the CAS and the halfmoon just locates it so it will still work without the half moon.

My suggestion is to get some loctite (or similarly good) superglue and stick the half moon back into position then install the CAS. The superglue should hold it well enough to get the CAS on. Start the car and check base timing to make sure its right
