Sau Vic 2014 Motorsport Championship Round 3 - Sandown Saturday 12Th April - Be Quick

The organisation from a communication point of view was good with the PA. Also don't think I have ever seen every flag point at Sandown occupied with 1 person, let alone 2! Had a chat with one of the WRX committee guys and can understand their position, wouldn't be easy organising these days and keeping them financially viable. I for one would be happy to pay a higher entry fee if it meant more track time and less entrants.

Got told I was over driving after one of my sessions, don't recall going off the track or displaying any un-sportsman like behaviour but officials word is final so that's that I guess. Was also a bit disappointed to only get 4 sessions as entry was almost as much as the last PI day but you some people cause red flags when "over driving" ;)

But anyway on a positive note, still a good day out with everyone else and glad the weather held out. We got a good turn out with 16 SAU cars entered (was 12 at Calder and 11 at PI), so the social aspect, club putting on a BBQ etc is great to see. Though I don't recall seeing any banners....richo?

Wasn't sure if I was still doing the championship spreadsheet so just did it now. Have guessed some peoples categories based on times so if its wrong let me know.

And for LOL's or state the bleeding obvious, attached racechrono data comparing the prius and RS5. Horsepower is definitely king at Sandown. Lost 3secs on the front, 3.5 on the back and another 1 just on the straights!

Yep, the Skyline has destroyed the top section of the intake gasket.

But it's sporting new inter-cooler piping and a new exhaust to allow for some aero trickery.

So May could be a go for it at Winton.

The flags, well I don't have them any-more...I'll grab one of Dan or Laith.

Another update to the championship standings as I had Pete in the wrong group.

There is something wrong with this picture....

1	Craig Ferdinands	Audi RS5 22
2	Ash Cosgriff HSV Clubsport R8	20
2	Chris Madden Nissan Skyline 20
2	John Packham Nissan 200sx s14	20
3	Aaron Barnes Nissan R35 GTR 18
3	Dave Marinucci Toyota 86 18

Here some pics and short writeup as well! Looking forward to Winton (hopefully with fewer cars!).

    • It's the adhesive holding the ceramic wheel to the shaft the fails on 90% of them.
    • Foreign debris, physical shock, boost leak, could be anything honestly. The danger in taking all the timing out of a tune/hitting the R&R corner is that even if the engine doesn't detonate your turbo is taking a lot of abuse from high EGT. Also, even if nothing goes wrong it is a journal bearing that is spinning at 100k RPM on boost. Eventually it goes through enough cold start/pressure cycles to wear it out.
    • I kinda accidentally saw this, and was interested, but It actually seems to replaces the whole center computer, using the existing screen and buttons. AND it may only be for a G37 and not compatible with a Japanese 370. So its not for me, but someone else may be interested to look into it. Its about $680USD. If I am understanding it right, it basically replaces/installs and android pc that integrates with the existing screen. But I could be wrong. https://gromaudio.com/vline/ The video I first saw was the following, with very little and unclear details.     Even if your not interested in the system, the video on their site was pretty comforting in showing how simple the whole centre comes out
    • hfygrte52 what side you looking for? Do you care what color car it's off? Found a white LH side on here: https://skylinespares.com.au/product/nissan-skyline-r33-coupe-rear-tail-light/   Aussie parts place but will ship to USA. Maybe get it before there's a tarrif on 25yo shit box parts
    • I’m with Shannon’s for all 5 of our cars. Agreed values seem fair, premium price is okay. ($210 ish a month, all comprehensive).  Have claimed once with them for a not at fault claim with another car where my car had no damage. Was one call after the incident and an email after. Deemed not at fault so premium didn’t go up either.    I have called up and spoken with people who are not familiar with certain cars and didn’t agree with me on value or let their personal vehicle preferences effect the call. But called back later and got someone else who was more agreeable.
