ECR-033
has anyone brought their car from qld to sa? did it need a regency pass? I know if you buy a car it needs it, but have been told if the car is already in your name there is no need for vehicle id. Tommy Kaira RL
Id checks I thought were not serious until they found things wrong and they kept adding to the list. It took me 3 goes to get it through. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/440832-qld-to-sa-rego/#findComment-7235184 Share on other sites
ECR-033
yeah I tried calling today but hung up after waiting for so long. pretty sure they wont let my car get away with just an id check. Ben C34
At the Id check they won't let it pass unless it is "roadworthy" ie no coil overs , low, loud, no anything. Matty 31
If the car is "already in your name" as you say, its a lot different. To have it in your name in another state, you'd have to hold a licence there (and have lived there whilst holding that licence). Then the transfer is more paperwork than anything (a few friends who have moved from interstate have just done the paperwork style transfer, no inspection or anything) But having a guess you're probably talking about purchasing a car rego'd in QLD.....its gonna be an ID check. If they see anything needing more attention, you'll get sent round the corner for a full inspection Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/440832-qld-to-sa-rego/#findComment-7236404 Share on other sites
ECR-033
not buying a car, its my car. im moving to Qld for a year or two, so dont know if I register it there then eventually bringing it back here will have dramas. Sklyn
when I moved down from the NT it was just paperwork. I got here, changed my license to SA, then changed the car to SA. they gave me plates over the counter then I returned the NT ones. No inspection at all. although I had purchased the car from SA about 12months prior, so was registered in NT for less than a year. (don't know if that had any effect) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/440832-qld-to-sa-rego/#findComment-7236718 Share on other sites

Well if thats the case, you'll have no dramas at all. They wont even need to see the car, it'll be done when you transfer your licence back. Piece of cake Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/440832-qld-to-sa-rego/#findComment-7237106 Share on other sites
