Just bought a new eboost2 controller so that with the non cat, boost leak fix, throttles tuned and e re tune should see some better results and hopefully a bigger peak power figure (:

Oh wow haha, should see some good gains soon then!

Yeah man i reckon i should see good gains haha /: 2 of the three throttle gaskets are leaking big time, the first and last injector seals are leaking, a few vacuum lines are leaking badly and there are 4 or more pin holes in the throttle adapter plate welds............ i could watch the pressure gauge on the compressor go down quite steadily after it finished filling itself and the tap was turned on to charge the intake system...

Just converted my rb25 s13 to e85. the car feels a lot faster but should it be making full boost sooner???

also puzzled at how boost and power comes on later than the bp98 .....

Has the following mods:

Standard rebuilt rb25

acl bearings

arp bolts throughout

tomei poncams

hks ex cam gear +8 i think

hks gtrs turbo kit on standard manifold,

custom japan made r32 gtr 6 throttle plenum

retains standard side feeds high flowed 740cc

greddy cooler

apexi induction kit and pod

turbosmart plumb back bov

3inch turbo back exhaust 100cell cat straight through to twin cannons

power fc

walbro 460

tomei fpr

koyo rad and greddy oil cooler

blitz spec r boost controll

excedy light flywheel

nismo 2way lsd

etc...etc..

the bottom red line in dyno 1&2 is the bp98 18psi

the middle pink line in dyno 1&2 is E85 on the same boost

the top orange line in dyno 1&2 is E85 20psi and some tweaking

dyno 3 is just differant boost settings after it was tuned obviously....

Back to original post.

1. Boost threshold should be VERY similar between fuels. I'd suggest the E85 tune is too lean on ramp up, or there is a manifold/gasket leak, or timing issue.

2. 20psi is almost certainly too much for a GTRS on an RB25 to use at the track. Just be on the look out for heat soak issues and turbo wear, depends on how much WOT you use. 16/17 psi is typically the upper limit. I'm not talking knock issues with dynamic compression since they disappear wtih E85, I'm talking turbine heat issues and compressor overspeed.

As said in earlier post, massive boost leaks all over the inlet plenum where found after my boost leak test dude :/

The plenum set up has definitely been like this the whole time its been on the car, since dare i say "Nizzpro" put it on my car....while i was running bp98 and no change to the set up now with e85... it goes in next week to be re welded and all injectors are getting overhauled and new hks gaskets throuhgout

What's the fine for that? I'm sure you can get away with it.

You'd have to be really unlucky to end up being escorted to the inspection facility like some of the idiots who hoon around the city on a Friday night. Most of the time they just give you an EPA notice.

I was given one a year ago because the car was too loud, I just needed an excuse to drop some money on a decent catback really; previous owner thought a 4inch catback was a good idea..

You get time to get the emissions test done, enough time to bolt in the most restrictive cat you can find and pass the test. :)

If its just a sound test they wont be getting under and unbolting the cat to look inside.

This is true haha i have had my car over the pits twice and you get time to sort your defects and shit for re inspection etc

I read Joeyjoejoe's E85 Tuning Adventutres and i noticed my dyno printout has very similar characteristics (apart from the spike) to his first dyno as in the way boost comes on slowly peaks and drops off straight away.... obviously he had boost leaks and then fixed them and had a re tune and got epic little gains.... man i hope i get similar gains

I wasn't awere of the leaks until I had the e85 tune done and saw that my gtrs seems slower to come on boost then others I had seen so I started investigating which led me to a boost leak test and so I found a ton of leaks and am obviously getting them fixed this week as well as an eboost2, jim berry single and de cat... Hopefully I'll get in for a re tune at the end of the week or early next week... The car has not been driven since I found the leaks hey :(

    • I'd just like to restate that I don't think anyone here is actually hating I recently sold a car part to a guy who was building a forged auto R34, with MV stall and aiming at ~450kw. I told him that I'm him, from the future and to stop after it explodes once. I told him I knew he won't listen the first time, and that's fine. But if my predictions do come true - Change direction faster than I did. I also said it's probably no coincidence that the dyno plot of a reliable turbo engine starts to look a lot like a N/A motor. :p
    • Got just the wing painted and fitted up to the existing boot. Big visual change and about time after having a GTR wing sitting in the shed since 2018 Headed up to Mallala with a quick obligatory stop in at Boliver OTR Oil control mods seems to have worked. I checked the catch can after session 1 and there was a dribble of water/e85 with barely any oil in it. After session 2 and 3 there was almost nothing and I stopped checking after that. so either great success or catastrophic failure/block of the external breather The GTR wing made a noticeable difference in the 160-185km/h sweepers. It was a very hot day for the cars at over 33C but the previously done cooling upgrade/ducting/water sprayers meant I never saw over 60C intake, 105C water and 100C oil and temps would drop back down very quickly once I shut it down. AD09's are a decent tyre but certainly and expectedly a step down when compared the the CR-S/AR-1 I have had on the car for years of track days. The handling characteristics of my car which I often describe using the Tony Hawks Pro Skater balance mechanic where either side of the center is understeer/oversteer was much more pronounced with no "green/safe" zone in the middle. However, imo it steers well/easily during oversteer largely thanks to the custom ACOSTAL front end. Enjoy a loose lap POV with my mate giggling away as a passenger.   Group photo for Peer Pressure Racing made it back home and gave it a wash Overall a great success compared to my previous two track days where i cooked the Starlets motor and blew up the new diff in the R32
    • Nice. I'm looking forward to the updates!
    • Ayooo, been a while mates. I have a s2 r33 gtst and air stopped coming out of all the top vents.   My car has always made an actuator gear noise when turning the car on but that's a different issue I think? Did searches and am at process of thinking it's an actuator or some type of motor? I see a few different actuators and don't know which one. Would be nice to know if it was the one that's under the steering wheel so the dash doesn't need to come out.
    • Hi, just checking. Did you get this stuff made by Vspec Performance and at what price roughly? Looking into (sometime later) also getting such a intake kit, and Trust as well as HKS don't make a full set like this anymore.
