Rb25 Broken Clip What Is It?

Hey guys while changing the headgasket on my motor a while ago I broke a clip by accident, what's the clip used for and how do I go about in replacing or fixing it. Asked a few people and they didn't know what it was lol It's the red clip in the picture. Car occasionally knocks to 40-50 on my power fc, I put the clip back in today and it remained under 20, so not sure if it's a coincidence or not.

In his other thread (with pic) it was the loom plug (not a clip) for the VCT solenoid.
