Was just wondering if you could help me out..

ive done about an hours research and still fairly clouded

there is a what i will call "air reservoir" half way up the intake pipe

that runs from the airbox to the intake mani..

and there isnt much distant between this box and my extractors

it has melted the bottom of this air reservoir and stuffing out my

revs/time as its bringing air in after the oxygen sensor..

and what i wanted to ask is am i able to eliminate this box all together

i believe the on hose plumbed to this box is idle air maybe..

what to do with this so i never get this issue...

sorry if i sound derp haha.. this has just done my head in

its a pain in the backside

Its bringing in air after the afm but BEFORE your O2 sensor. . .to answer your question i believe the part you are describing is (you have pics?) is a resonance chamber , you should be able to replace it with a hardpipe no worries

there is a pic in my original post man..

i was thinking of just replumbing the idle air hose

from the resonance box straight to the intake pipe

with maybe a one way valve attached.

cause i think its just a throttle body bypass for idle air

is this resonance box shaped and made in a certain way for

any reason?

when i removed the hose from the box..

put a sock over it just to test free air sucking

because the intake pipe will allow a bigger air flow

and my car just either stalling or idles rough as guts

is that just a matter of playing with idle revs and/or timing?

i ended up cutting the box off with an angle grinder fibreglassing

the pipe.. then sikaflexing under the fibreglass.. and then coated

the whole lot in black sika just to ease paranoia.. then cut the nipple

for the hose.. did the same.. and left it all over night.. and she runs sweet

makes an awesome induction rumble haha

also did a fair service as in plugs, oil, filters flushed it all.. runs beautifullyy

and heres a pic of what i did lol

    • Cheers Duncan! As always I'm happy to post them here. There's a good 30% more cars at the OAM than what are shown in the photos too, so well worth a visit.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
