R32 Automatic Not Getting Into Top Gears

Hi, my r32 4door automatic intermittently will take off in second gear and only select up on gear and then hold that gear. If you take it up to 100kmh reving at around 4k and take your foot off the revs drop back to idle on decel like it's not in a gear. Also the power button will not illuminate the light in the dash during this intermitant problem. And when the light will illuminate randomly it will kick into the top gears and all is well? It's anoying and I want desperately to get to the bottom if it if it's a simple fix

Staying in second is the 'limp mode' of the Trans, and there is no easy fix.

Usually the shift solenoids are what screw up, so a visit to a Trans specialist is required.

Shift solenoid aye, thanks man. I know an auto specialist but not sure how much he does with jap stuff... Can anyone recommend a good place in brisbane.... Thanks

Drop a shift kit in it.

Will replace the solenoid and improve 2nd and OD

Speak to these guys and see what they have to say

I haven't done it or dealt with them but all the same it sounds like it might help you

Shift kits don't replace the solenoids, just the valve body. A larger second gear servo is a common mod, maybe that's what confused you sinista32.
