Hi guys, I'm looking into getting some race brake pads for my D2 8pot brakes, and all the pads I have found are $500+ including D2 race pads. I came across the WInmax W5 brake pads at Motorsport Brakes which are only $300 for the set and are rated to 750C, which what DS3000's are rated to.

I don't really understand brake compounds, is there any information here that would suggest these have comparable performance to DS3000's or similar? Also, how will the D2 supplied rotors hold up?

And lastly, are these pads good value?

Cheers

Gave the Winmax W5's their first run on Saturday at Wakefield. Have to say I was mightily impressed with them. Bedded them in along with new rotors and they copped a hiding all day and were biting really hard, with no signs of fade. Have to say I was pretty shocked and impressed with the braking performance overall, coming from the standard GTR brakes, the D2's pull up like a mofo.

Won't hesitate to purchase these pads again considering the price. Just make sure they have them on the shelf!

What about A1RM's? They're rated to 780 and are under $300.

These were crap in my car... Burned 2 sets over 2 days...

Changed to Winmax W6.5 front and W5 rear and the car has awesome braking and they hardly wore!

You're shit

you missed a word "the"

Serious note, they're not good pad for the track - although rated to whatever they are... I dare say those numbers could be made up.

I've had several friends cook these pads with EVO Brembos and the pads crumbled

Matty himself experienced this too, he was a believer in QFM A1RMs now he's not.

I myself haven't faced the crumble fate, however came off the track at Wakefield after they faded half way through the session..

Since I've changed to cheap Intima SR pads and they seems to hold up much better - however I have a set of Project MU HC+ sitting at home :)

I didn't think they were too good either in my factory callipers but I find them fine in my AP's.

I stuck with them as they were a good compromise of street and track and didn't destroy rotors.

How's everyone finding the Winmax pads on rotors? I'd be keen to give them a go next if they're not too harsh.

The higher the number the harsher they are... I didn't notice any pad wear but the rotors probably have from a full day on track...

And yes A1rm are shit in stock sized heavy ass skylines if you are going to barrel down Wakie at 200+ km/h lol
