Hey guys,

I have a 2003 V35 5AT and recently developed an annoying problem.

When driving in 'Auto' mode, there are harsh 'thud' everytime the auto trans gear changes. If I put the pedal to the floor, I have a little bit of wheel spin that I can feel. When I try to put it to 'Manual' mode, the screen in the dash still remains as 'D' rather than the gear number it would be in if using Manual mode.

Note. The problem first started when I washed my car 'Airred out'. I have air suspension installed. The problem went away the next day and didn't reoccur until yesterday (after a weekend of semi hard driving in the mountains) when the rain started pouring down and I 'airred out' on the wet floor. Not sure if this is relevant, but I've been trying to figure out the circumstances that have occured prior to this issue. The problem on my G35 is still ongoing (as with the wet weather). Despite the hard driving over the weekend, the problem didn't immidiately reoccur. It's taken it several days for it to come back so I've ruled out my driving style as the problem that would cause my 5at issue.

Thoughts guys? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Code for the box was 'overtemp' so I suggested a cooler for the auto.

There were two other codes more pressing, abs wheel sensor and engine knock sensor, which we are planning to look at further. I suspect the wheel sensor might be causing extra load on the gearbox, which may have caused the overheat, but the sensor will have to be swapped before that is confirmed.
