R32 Gtst Driveshaft Help

Well Ive got my new gearbox back in the monster.

The driveshaft ive noticed has teeth missing on the spline almost like keyways.

Do these corrispond with anything inside the gearbox or were they left out as part of the manufactoring process?

I notice that the shaft wont slide all the way in to allow the driveshaft center bearing to line up.

So before i hit it with a mallet am i missing something?

RIGHT!

It goes onto the gearbox shaft about 95% of the required length. I took the driveshaft off and tried it on the old gearbox shaft and it fit perfectly.

It jams up about 1 to 2 cm short of lining up with everything and allowing me to bolt up the driveshaft to the diff.

Suggestions?
