What was the reasoning about not chasing CAMS accreditation right off the bat?

That was one of the things I was looking forward to the most from SAU. ;)

basically - the club has been postponed and delayed for so long regarding many different things. We wanted to take members before christmas and to get CAMS onboard would push it back another few weeks again! This way we can sort CAMS out in the new year and still take members on now (we wont be holding any events between now and then anyway).

Hope that clears it up a bit.

Approval from Nissan has been given. :(

OK folks it's all happening.

We just have some printing details to sort out and we will start taking members.

The Committee held a meeting on Sunday night and it all looks good.

We will organise a BBQ/Cruise to have a membership day to get the ball rolling.

Stay Tuned...

:jump:

Brendanf, I would guess that the Nissan issue would be going pretty well!

Actually Dan...right after I posted "Approval from Nissan has been given. " Nissan called back and said the Legal Dept. still had not given the OK.

I didn't want to post anything further until we heard back from them. We have an agreement from them to use "Skyline" for the club. Apparently the name is owned by Nissan Japan and licensed to Nissan Oz.

The document is in the hands of the SAU Legal Dept. at the moment and as soon as Marty Di Stasio figures out if "the vibe" is OK we'll be set. :uh-huh:

Shell is doing a great job with the membership forms and getting the cards ready.

Looks like we'll be taking members at the cruise on the 14th and the Track day on the 19th (and by mail anytime around then).

Thanks for your support and encouragement. :(

***NEWSFLASH***

Skylines Australia NSW will be taking members at the Track Day 19/12/02

The wait is finally over. Be one of the first to join this fantastic new club.

Extract from the Club Rules and Constitution:

3. Objectives of the Club:

3.1 To promote, organise and conduct within the Club and with other motor vehicle clubs, events such as: rallies, tours, trials, competitions, exhibitions, social functions and other similar events.

3.2 To assist members of the Club in the maintenance, restoration and enhancement of club members’ vehicles.

3.3 To regularly distribute a newsletter concerning the activities and interests of the Club.

3.4 To provide and maintain a website concerning the activities and interests of the Club.

3.5 To obtain and maintain historical, statistical and other records and documents pertaining to the club members’ vehicles.

3.6 To affiliate with the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Ltd (CAMS) abide by it’s rules and constitution and those of the FIA.

3.7 To promote friendship and courtesy on the road, and in competition between members of the Club.

Next year we intend to have a wide variety of Competition and Social events. Initially we will be looking at how other clubs go about organising events and then running our own. The basic groundwork is done for CAMS affiliation.

Justjap (http://www.justjap.com/ ) has already come on board as a sponsor by donating $500.00 to the club. We expect more companies to offer benefits to members as the club grows.

Membership will cost $35.00 per year plus a once off joining fee of $15.00. You will receive your choice of sticker and a SAU membership card.

The Club is Incorporated in NSW, ABN 21 948 211 624. We operate under the Skylines Australia Club Rules and Constitution which are modelled on the CAMS guidelines.

On behalf of the Club Committee I invite you to join up and share some great eperiences with like minded Skyline enthusiasts.

Thankyou :P

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it!!!!

Might have to go and do some hellis out the front of work (on that private section of road) to celebrate.

$50 on Thursday for membership... Check!

Congrats to all those involved in making this club happen... a monumental achievement.

Well done.

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
    • Would seem to me to be appropriate to go GTR style bar. There are options with and without N1 vent holes, with the GTR lower lip integral (because FG copy). https://justjap.com/search?q=r32 bumper
