Hi All,

The Cooma Monaro Automobile Club Inc. will be holding their third Hillclimb at Mt Gladstone on the 18th of May. Due to a small turnout last race (22) it's possible it could be cancelled. Read email that I received:

"Fellow Hillclimb Enthusiasts,

Attached are Entry Form and Supplementary Regulations for the CMHAC Mt Gladstone Hillclimb on May 18. If you intend to enter this event please do so early.

There is a significant amount of work and expense required by CMHAC officials and volunteers to set up the event, it is a public road and must remain open the day before and the day after the event, plus the restaurant at the top needs to be financially compensated for the inability to open on the day.

Due to the disappointing number of entries for our hillclimb of April 6, the club has decided to review number of entries received on May 5th and decide on whether the event will go ahead or be cancelled at that time.

We would hate this new hillclimb venue to fail due to lack of support, so urge you to enter early if you intend to do so. We are entering negotiations with CAMS with a view to running full type 4 vehicles (unregistered Sports Sedans) for the events after winter, which may interest a few more entrants.

Event Entries"

It was a well run event and a lot of fun,It's also a good chance to test your car and skills against liked minded people. At the last event I battled it out with a couple of Evos and came out on top! Here's the link to the club: http://www.coomacarclub.com.au/mt-gladstone-hillclimb/

Some competitors have uploaded their race on Youtube if you want to have a look at the course.

It's only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Canberra so for all you Canberrans it's almost South Tuggeranong!

Please show your support because it would be a shame to see it cancelled!

I found out about this Hill climb via the in-laws that live close by, was planing on doing it later on in the year if you do struggle for entries number shoot me a pm I will enter. Its stange that the Cooma Monaro Automobile Club Inc would not send out invite to people that have done other events with them in the past or use the mailing list from the Snowy Mountains 1000 to advertise.

I live an hour away yet never heard of the event.

Will let some hill climb fanatic mates know.

But these guys need to advertise more

I agree. As far as I know it was only advertised with the Canberra Hill Climb Club and local radio. I found out through word of mouth and this is why I posted it here.

I'm not a member of the club but it seemed to be run by a bunch of guys that are open to suggestions in how to improve the general running and organization of the event. After the presentation all the competitors discussed how it could be improved and advertising was brought up along with other concerns ie scrutineering etc

Also Warwick, where do all the skylines hide in Jindabyne im there around 8 times a year and never see any.

I only know of 3 in the area: 32GTR, 33GTS-T and my 34GTR. I only use my car for track events and the odd weekend drive. Next time yo u come up PM me and we'll go for a drive. Love to go for a ride in a 35 :)

It looks like a nice club level hill climb that I am sure could attract more entries if it was publicised more among CAMS affiliated clubs.

I like the simple class regs as my car would fit nicely in Type 3 without having to compete in Type 4 as some clubs require.

When my car is running again I would not mind giving it a go later in the year.

    • I did not go to GTR Festival. It's quite a long drive and the car wasn't dialed in yet. I also wanted to see how the racing portion went before going. From what I can tell the classes were not heads up, index, or bracket - just whoever has the quickest ET wins. Never heard of that sort of thing before and maybe some people like it but it's not my cup of tea. I don't suspect I'll go if that is how the racing is done. I did get the car out three times and had issues each time. Some were my error - haven't raced the car in over two years - and others were parts. Had trouble getting the clutch to slip correctly and remembering how it was set up in the Haltech. Broke some drivetrain parts as well that couldn't be fixed in a couple days to get back out. Season definitely didn't end the way I wanted but at least the bearings are still fine! Not a fleck of material in the filter. Really hoping next year is the year I can actually test this car properly.
    • find it funny everyone claims different fuel chains, do different things with their fuel blah blah blah. We don't have that many fuel terminals in Australia. The fuel tanker trucks drive into the terminal, fill up, and drive directly to the service station and dump out. The majority of fuel you get, is coming out of the same terminals. The variation is actually at the individual service stations and how good their tanks are, as well as how much turn over they actually have. Older fuel stations, that haven't had their tanks replaced are going to end up with the worst fuel. Also a lot of older stations have shit design, and shit maintenance, and end up with more water absorption into the tank. This is when you then get a bad batch of fuel. Other shit things happen, like tanker drivers have a f**k up, and starting to unload the wrong compartment on their truck into the wrong tank.
    • Yeah go with that one
