your Phucked australia wide but it could be worth ripping it off and driving it over the border.

Call Regency park to check out the legalities of interstate defects and what they mean to you and your car.

Call Matrix Motorsport (adams Auto Centre in the white pages, 8 Colorado Court Morphett vale SA) ask for Adam Gramola as he specialises in skyline imports and returning your line back to standard for regency inspections.

Either way you are up for some serious bucks you poor bastard.

it says if i dont clear the defect in 21 days they will cancel my registration?! whats that sh!t?

ill ask the NSW boys about getting it through over here... I was just gonna drive it home and do it there, have all the parts and tools, wont cost me labour or anything.

steve whats this about emissions testing? if i take it to regency they make me pay to test my car!? I have a new cat on there, does that mean my emissions will be fine?

well i was doing something about 20minutes before i got pulled over. Apparently some responsible citizen which witnessed me enjoying my car, called the cops and complained (i was told they received "a FEW" calls) and i just happened to come across an unmarked car that was looking out for me, and im kinda hard to miss... Just because stupid retards potter their daily shit boxes around at 20km under the speed limit, they must freak out when they see the orange flash go by :D Seriously tho i do accept that i deserved it and im not saying i should be allowed to go out and play while others are around...

got done for the usual... BOV, zorst (which was stated to be "oversize", no testing of sound was done), too low... No mention of the FC H/C stuck on the dash, or the EBC, or the TT... But all in all ive had a good run, the car will be returned to stock as a rock...

Yeah i and my mates have had the whole "citizen call in thing" happen to us, its bullshit, honestly i just think they are saying that to try and get you to admit to something....

But like i said would be good to find out about the whole interstate defect thing.

Emissions testing is required when you change anything except exhaust, FMIC and pod.

So, BOV, Power fc, EBC - all require an emissions test. If you get it engineered, and emissions passed - you wont have to stock your car out to get it passed. Also, if you get the ride height to 100mm clearance, which is the minimal allowed under state and federal law in NSW - you wont have to worry about that either. As for noise, well get it tested and see if they are right or not. TT, not sure about NSW, but in WA you can have them as long as they are switched to the hand brake, so they only work with the hand brake on - might be worth getting it included.

All I am saying is, get it all certified and legal, then you wont have to worry about it again. Being in NSW its about 10 times easier than in SA.

Thats all nice except allan likes his car no where near engineered levels.. Anyway, remembering your car back when I saw you, think the only thing that requires rectified is the ride height and T/T maybe track width if you got the wrong offset.

Just drive the MERC around dude...

u have a 2530 rite? Hopefully does it stick out like a sore thumb or look stocky as. With aftermarket turbos, u need to ger full emissions testin done as steve mentioned.

Bad luck about the defect. hope u have as painless a process of gettin the car off defect.

Wrong, a defect can apply to any car from any state. If you bring a car into a state, the local road traffic act applies to that vehicle, its state law.

But the law can vary from state to state on even such things as pods, etc?? Say i had an engineered car which was engineered for one state, i thought that would mean that it may not be legally engineered in the other state? and if you transferred a car from one state to another you had to get the engineers redone in that state?

For instance, in Victoria I had the full EPA test check my car over with an aftermarket FMIC, and exhaust and they said "no worries" even pointing these out. Did the noise test and polutions test and was able to drive out. I know in other states unless u obtain a full emissions test those things are not legal at all like you say.

I always thought that the registration meant that the vehicle had to abide by the standards of the registration state, not the state you're in. License issues and road rules though are a different thing.

I do know that when cops see the plate they generally go the other way. I know for me i've had cops hightail it right to my ass, then seen the plates and quickly changed their mind.

Not a good idea drawing attention to yourself though, guess what happened, happened just because of that.

see thats the funny thing, the states are meant to be enforcing the *Australian* design rules, they are national....but it seems to be so many differences between the rulings from the state authorities....

predator, I dont think any state requires a full emissions test for a FMIC and exhaust. Which is beside the point.

Road rules are vehicle registration rules - all laid out in the same act. In SA its called the Road Traffic Act and covers everything from speed limits, to fines and vehicle standards.

You are right, one state's rules are different, but any vehicle driven on a state's roads, must comply with that state's Road Traffic Act. Currently there is also a national agreement where if your car is defected in QLD, and it is registered in another state, you can have the defect cleared in the state it was defected or the state of registration.

Duncan, I think the big problem is interpretation of ADRs. Some state's beaurocracies just dont like the idea of making interpretations that are in the favour of the vehicle owner, others do - like QLD.

I would love to live in QLD:)
