Hi all,

Ok here goes the story - i purchased a BNR32 from KawasakiRider from here - and i am in the midst of doing the Rego for it in NSW - its interstate car was rego in QLD

Bought the car in early March and had the car for more than a month now. Purchased new plates and waited for the plates to arrive before doing a rego. as well as fixing the defect-able items for RWC.

Here is where i am stuck - i have sent the car to John at Unique Auto Sport to help me out for the RWC - he has been amazing in helping me get the car sorted.

Good news is - car is Blue Slip approved (Car is good and straight, and all inspection passed) BUT they wont issue me a Blue Slip till i provide the following 3 documents - Previous Rego Papers (KawasakiRider is helping me get this - hopefully he can get it), Engineering papers and Import papers - now the problem is i MAY NOT be able to get any of the 3 paperwork mentioned - sigh.... anyways, would have, could have, should have -

i do have a Proof of Entitlement (proof of purchase) - with Vin number, name of seller and buyer, ID Details, and price of purchase - http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/registration/getnewrego/proofofentitlement.html - it states in that site all i need is ONE of the proof of entitlement to do a registration.

And this site tells me - http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/registration/getnewrego/interstatevehicles.html - all i need is the following - Blue Slip, Proof of entitlement, proof of new owner details, CTP

Just need clarification on anyone who has done an interstate registration before - do i really need all the 3 paperwork mentioned to get the Blue Slip finalized?

Please do let me know.

Thanks in advance...

Mate I went from act rego to nsw with my stock as a rock 34 all he needed was import plate on car. He needed that plus signed rego paper. Proving it's yours.

Paid my green slip took receipt of green slip and old rego papers new blue slip.

Pay da cash done

The only thing proving the car is mine - is proof of purchase is that sufficient?

Im trying to get the Old Rego papers now - problem is - the guy doing the blue slip - wont issue the blue slip till i give him the 3 paperwork? is it a necessity?

Thanks!

The receipt u got have numbers of car written on it?

Shouldn't matter as long as it has old rego numbers. Rta can match it up.

Bloke doing my blue slip only needed old rego papers and import certificate on car.

That's all. Don't know what mods are done to your car why need to be engineered

i bought my 33 gtr from SA and brought it over to NSW.... Changed over a few things so it passed blue slip, got the blue slip. They didnt ask for import and engineers papers. I THINK they may have needed the previous rego papers, I think i just used the rego papers from the sign over! I dont understand why they would need the import and engineer papers! Unless it doesn't have a compliance plate?

The car has a mod plate on the car - thats why i am checking with you guys who have done it before - They told me the car passes the blue slip - but need these docs... ill speak to him again tomorrow... thanks all!

Another problem is i dont even have the previous rego papers - only have the sales agreement as well as the PPSR cert...

the blue slip inspector shouldnt even need proof of ownership.

hes carrying out an INSPECTION.

you will need proof of ownership when at the rta.

I bought a starlet gt.

didnt take any paperwork with me.

obtained blueslip.

which is all you need.

what if the car had been out of rego for 20years?

whos going to have the old papers?

you need a written receipt with all the vehicle id numbers on it.

hmmm... i went to RTA and asked them on Saturday morn - they told me if they need it - i will need to provide it... sigh... my car is at UAS for the past 2 weeks... no solution yet... will know later today... what the outcome is... but the RTA did tell me - all i need is Blue slip, Green Slip, Proof of Purchase...

You don't need engineering cert or compliance papers for blue slip. Had the same thing happen to me when trying to get the blue slip for my car when I brought it in from Victoria. First blue slip place wanted engineers certificate and original compliance paperwork, took it elsewhere and they just did the inspection and provided the blue slip.

Can recommend where you went?

Thanks!

I ended up using the workshop directly across the road from the Five Dock RTA, can't remember the name. If I had to do it again I'd use JLM like Terry suggested. In fact, my car is with JLM at the moment getting a power steering leak fixed :)

I don't know about DekA's, but our cars...

* 7-series BMW from Victoria

* BNR34 VS2 Nur from ACT

...were blue slipped through JLM

21-23 Bridge St Rydalmere

02-96383205

Thanks Terry!

I have given import Doc - now they want engineers cert (starting to get a bit annoying) - How do i acquire one if i do need one? Im going to give JLM a call - to see if i can get the blue slip done...

Thanks!

I did this also.

If you need a hand, I might be able to assist with a blue slip not far from Seven Hills

I am from JLM and yes the guys are right the blueslip is only an inspection.

What John P is doing is trying to save you a little grief at the RTA that is all (he's being helpful) as many RTA / RMS staff are not aware of the rules on imports.

The argument is this - The car will already be in the RTA / RMS system as they as almost completely linked now so the majority of the details will already be in the AIS online system. If it is already there the slip is very easy to do.

Unless the car is a 15 year rule car with no "compliance plate" it does not need an engineers report & if you go to the right RTA office who understands the import system they will just process the car through for you. Not all RTA / RMS offices understand the rules, I even have trouble registering cars sometimes at the local office and have to tell the person behind the counter how to process the paperwork.

Honestly the RTA / RMS system and it's rules contradict themselves on a daily basis and that is why many shops have different opinions on how to get an import registered.

If we can help just pop in with what you have got and we will sort it out for you on the day.
