I am from JLM and yes the guys are right the blueslip is only an inspection.

What John P is doing is trying to save you a little grief at the RTA that is all (he's being helpful) as many RTA / RMS staff are not aware of the rules on imports.

The argument is this - The car will already be in the RTA / RMS system as they as almost completely linked now so the majority of the details will already be in the AIS online system. If it is already there the slip is very easy to do.

Unless the car is a 15 year rule car with no "compliance plate" it does not need an engineers report & if you go to the right RTA office who understands the import system they will just process the car through for you. Not all RTA / RMS offices understand the rules, I even have trouble registering cars sometimes at the local office and have to tell the person behind the counter how to process the paperwork.

Honestly the RTA / RMS system and it's rules contradict themselves on a daily basis and that is why many shops have different opinions on how to get an import registered.

If we can help just pop in with what you have got and we will sort it out for you on the day.

I cannot agree more and John is helping me out as much as he can - he doesnt do the Blue Slips unfortunately - but he is definitely helping me out and i truly appreciate it.

The car currently - they mentioned is Complaint to all aspects - only need to have the documentation - import papers and engineers report.

I have already gotten the Import Document - that was sent to me by Vehicle imports -

I refer to your email of 28 April 2014 requesting a copy of the Import Approval issued for a 1989 Nissan Skyline with VIN/Chassis No. 6U9000BNR32004013.

Due to the privacy Act this department cannot release a copy of the original import approval to you as you were not the original importer of this vehicle.

I can confirm that Import Approval 39259/49 was issued on 14 December 2004 for a 1989 Nissan Skyline with VIN/Chassis No. 6U9000BNR32004013 under Motor Vehicle 15 Years Old or Older.

This letter constitutes a copy of the relevant details of the Vehicle Import Approval. It may assist you with your vehicle’s registration.

Was the reply that they have issued to me. I sent it over to the Blue Slip guys - then they said that i need the Engineer papers.

It will be great if you could help me sort out this Blue Slip - as RTA mentioned that i will need a Blue Slip, Green Slip, Application Form, and proof of purchase. The car is currently Road Legal and rego in Queensland.

John is going to speak to someone in the RMS tomorrow - thats why i said i truly appreciate him helping me - ill see what he says - if he cant sort it out for me - i will contact you / LMS for this.

RMS said i do need an Engineers report - and the car was imported under the older than 15 year rule - Please correct me if i am wrong.

If i do need an engineers report - does anyone know of anyone and how much does it cost?

The current rego ends 29th May - will need to get al lthese sorted to do the NSW rego before then... all the help and info i can get will be great.

This is retarded.... I made a thread, unaware that Desmond had already made this one.

"Hey everyone, I know this topic has been done to death, but I'm hoping someone could shed some light for me....

I recently sold my R32 GTR to a member on this forum. I live in QLD, he's from Sydney. Now, the car was imported and complied (I don't have the original documents of import) and there was a mod plate put in the engine bay to signify that it was complied.

This car has been registered in the hands of a few owners in QLD over the past few years, there is no doubt that the car has passed compliance.

The bloke that bought it off me has taken it down to Sydney and the RTA are making him jump through all sorts of hoops. They've stipulated that they need the original import paperwork (no idea why when the car is already complied), which is understandably MIA since the car has been in the country for a number of years; and to top it all off, they're now requesting that he gets the car engineered so it can be registered in NSW.

It has no visible modifications that would require an engineers certificate; this is purely being asked of him just so his car can be registered as the import papers aren't with the car (despite the car being complied....).

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? SURELY he doesn't have to get the car engineered just to register it.

Sorry if this is vaguely written, I am only passing on third hand information that I've been given.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was asked to do the same thing when I went to re-register my R32 GTR that I had owned for 10 yars (at the time) and had been previously registered in NSW (and complied under the 15 year rule).

I simply went to another blue slip place and he passed it without a problem. Went to the RTA and re-registered it.

Guess it is just you and your luck.

I bought my wagon from an import dealer in QLD. It has no 'mod plate', even though it was QLD rego, just the usual compliance sticker. I had no trouble when I had it blue slipped here (inspector had to request if the new VIN was in the Aus system from QLD transport). RTA/RMS Blacktown was hassle free!

My FIL said it was not bad at all hahah too bad the old man doesn't share the same passion with me about cars... but his brother does! LOL at least Christmas is always interesting! haha
