hey guys

I have attached a pic of a label on my wife's v35 it's under the lights at the front. Hers seem to be very white so I was guessing there HID but now I'm not sure. Does anyone know a way of seeing what these are?

I am sure this would have been covered before but I couldn't find anything on here. I'm looking at getting her some new lights for her bday but don't wanna have any installation issues

Thanks

Kris

That is the ballast for the hid bulbs. Most of the time they are left on the car to keep the lights water tight even though the light bulbs have been swapped out to halogen for compliance. Only way to tell is to unscrew the large black plastic cover at the back of the headlight and pull the bulb out... Google what the hid bulb connector looks like at the globe end. Halogen will just have a few wires running to the globe whereas hid will have a high voltage insulated connection running from the ballast

Yea definitely hid bulbs in there that is the high voltage ignitor. Small swist to the left and it will pull off. The silver braided cable runs within the headlight to the grey ballast you took a photo of originally. And the normal 12v wires connect to the ballast.

Yeah I have seen that. The ones I want are from the states. I know a few run them but dunno if it's worth the risk. Some point them down so they don't blind motorists. In saying that I have been blinded by cars in the road before and they have been brand new VF commodores.

Can anyone help with what globes etc are used on a 06 series 2. when the compliance was done they put in candles instead of lights, so much so that it is unsafe to drive at any speed (over 80k) on a dark road. I need to put something in so I can see again and this is getting to me.

I'm pretty sure all Commodores and Falcons came out with the driver's side headlight pointing upwards. I have fun flashing almost every Falcadore with my bi-xenons.

I think they're D2R, but best bet is to pull the bulbs out and see what they did (probably use D2 > H1 adapter). Do you have the ballasts+associated wiring still in place?
