I am about to send my Stagea to have the mods tuned .

I have heard it is a pain to tune auto`s ! , but have also heard that some tuners can LOCK the autobox in 3rd for tuning !! ??

Is this possible or an old wifes tale

No if you try to tune in 3rd it can kick down suddenly.

Select 2nd - that cuts out 3rd and 4th.

Turn on the "snow" switch - that cuts out first.

Now you can tune in 2nd.

BTW is it a 4wd rolling road? If not you need to remove the front driveshaft or your transfer case can suffer damage. Pulling the AWD fuse only works on the R32GTR not on a Stagea.

What did you end up using for an ecu or are they going to provide and fit something?

Thanks for the info - very useful

Unfortunately in the UK IT SEEMS ( disclaimer ! )

Tuners are more snobby about what they tune and what they tune with !

EG ....

We only tune GTR35`s

We don`t tune Auto`s

WE don`t Tune that system

So I have found a tuner that will roll my AWD Auto - I have brought a HKS F-con iS -

because HE can tune HKS F-con !

the optional OSC cant be used according to him ,

and he will have to fool the ECU signal to the MAF - he has stated that the usual z32 MAF upgrade cant be used !?

and I have `pig`ed` it in with an R34GTT HKS NP5-8 loom .

Thanks again for the info

HKS F-Con should be able to read the signal from a Z32 AFM ok. The stock AFM can only read enough airflow for about 225kw whereas the Z32 is good for about 350kw. A tuner can work around this up to a point by estimating numbers but if a Z32 AFM is available it should really be used. I guess you are lucky to have found a tuner with the software to tune the F-Con at all! Good luck! (BTW what is an optional OSC?).
