Pulled off the cover today to eyeball my timing belt and found this greddy one fitted. I have no idea how old it is as there's no stickers in the engine bay and I just bought the car recently.

I can't see any cracks or splits around the edges or wear on the teeth, although there is that brown discoloration on the underside.

Any opinions?

Replace it.

Only way to know for sure that it's okay.

Solid advice, I agree with Ben 100% on this. It's very hard (prob impossible) to determine a timing belt's age from simply looking at it. Without a receipt or record to help you it is cheap insurance for you to replace it. I would also recommend replacing the water pump at the same time as a maintenance item and your camshaft and crankshaft oil seals which are easy to acess then you (or your mechanic) replaces the belt.

Have a look at some of these options for parts;

What does it matter if it's 100 thousand interval with the greedy belt?

You don't know from when.

Changing a belt is a substantially easier job than fixing a heap of bent valves when the belt snaps.

So your options are roll the dice and spend all your money on other stuff,or be sensible and do the belt.... pretty simple really.

Unless you want someone to tell you that your belt looks good for another 55,674 km?
