Were, but the pointy end of the competition disappeared, as some moved away, and some wanted more competition so moved to other events.

Last one I went to was 99.9% people just doing skids and people bring 11ty sets of tyres to do skids on. I always much preferred the thrill of the chase than the skid.

I preferred the skid(my engine didn't).

I can corner quickly on the street.

I cant spin/drift.

yeah....I ended up having a heap of beers so car isnt on trailer. And not getting up early to put on trailer!
