Hey, was doing a few laps a few weeks ago and by the end of the day when everything in the car was getting hot e.g. oil brakes etc, when i changed into 3rd 4th and 5th the gears would grind only when they where first getting into gear and under load.

they still did it on the way home when not under load but not as bad.. is it worth maybe changing oil for now and see what that does or you think synchros need changing?

ow and its an r32 gtr with 270 atw

Thanks

What you want in your Gbox is Redline Shockproof Lightweight aka Smurf's blood.

It'll get rid of your problems and there are a million cases both on here and NS where this oil has solved grinding/shifting problems in Nissan gboxes.

I know it worked for mine like a charm and I had gone through 3 differents oils.

However, the oil is only masking the problem and ideally, you should be gunning for a rebuild with new synchros, parts etc...

So if you're looking for a short term fix while you save up the funds for a rebuild, this is your best option.

Awesome thanks just ordered some smurfs blood. Now this may seem a little bit of a noob question. Is it hard to change the oil. I know that draining is easy. But would re filling require a special pump?

A word of caution - LWSP oil is a GL5 specification oil, which apparently contains some additives which aren't good for the brass synchro which RB/SR/VG boxes run. Not sure how much truth there is to it, but I have a gearbox which was run on LWSP for a long time and the synchros wore out before any other components did.
I've since changed to a GL4 specification oil (new gearbox), although too early to tell if it will make any difference.

Redline make a GL4 called MT-90, Amsoil apparently make a good GL4 also, but I haven't tried it.
