Testing Leak On An Intercooler And Correcting It ?

A couple friends had beers this weekend and one think he has a intercooler leak. So... one guy came with the idea or wetting the intercooler and seeing if it's leaking from the front bar. Does that make any sens as a ghetto way of doing it ?

Also, i told him if there's a leak on the bar, he could cold-weld it. Does it make sens or I should tell him to forget my idea lol ?

You pressure test to find leaks.

If there is a leak in the cooler I would get it welded.

You can only weld the end tanks, not the core.

Probably cheaper to just buy a new cooler, unless it is a 5 inch thick HKS monster.

Pressure test it and spray soapy water around to test for leaks.

I have had a small hole in a core welded by a professional 10 yrs ago and was no worries.

But depending on where it is whether it is worth repairing.
