hey guys, I have a r32 gtst drift car, and I have recently just bought some new wheels with a lower offset. After putting them on and getting a wheel alignment to make sure both rear cambers are the same, I've noticed that the passenger side comes out 15mm more then the driver side. Also passenger side camber and toe adjustment shows 15mm more thread then the driver side, not sure if any of that matters, but thought it might be worth mentioning.

Both rear guards are flared, but with a bit of measuring in a few different places, I've come to the conclusion that they're both pretty close, so that's not the issue. Also when car is on jack stands the subframe moves up and down pretty easy (with jack) I've ordered some solid subframe bushes, but just wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at to fix this problem? I have googled this but I haven't actually found any solutions, besides putting a spacer on one side lol , and I'm not going to do that! Has anyone else had this problem? and what did you do to fix it?

Yeah my car is like this, let me know how u get on. I'm putting some uas front camber arms in if and taking it for an alignment at a good suspension place in the next few months I'll report back how i go

Cheers guys, my solid subframe bushes arrived so I will be putting them in over the weekend, also while the subframe is out I'm going to look at everything and measure stuff to see if I can spot if anything is bent, or in the wrong spot ect.

I'll report back after I get it all done.

Yeah I was thinking it might not fix it, but it still needs to be done because they are rooted, atleast it should be easier to sus everything out while it's all out of the car.

Bushes done, they didn't change much when it comes to the wheel sticking out, checked over everything and nothing looked bent at all, so I'm going to go ahead and assume subframes arnt made to perfect measurements? So what I did was make sure cambers are the same by using a tape measure and level, then I just made the flare abit bigger lol I really don't know what else to do, and at the end of the day it is just a drift car.

I'm not part of that concensus. My car (R32) doesn't have the offset. Many others (R32) also don't have it. I've seen it a bit on R33s - well, the only ones I've taken any notice of were.

So I would say that it is not simply a condition of Skylines in general. I fall on the position that it is abnormal.

I don't think it's as simple as having been into a gutter. I've had my late 93 model since the end of 2000, and it was 100% stock when I got it . Exhaust, air filter, everything... So I think it's unlikely it went into a gutter before I got it and since I've had it , it hasn't been into any gutters. When I get around to measuring everything I doubt I'll find anything bent. If I had to say I'm guessing it comes down to the tolerances the chassis is manufactured to. With the difference being the location of the rear chassis rails the subframe bolts to.

To add to this a friend of mine recently got a very clean, stock, newly imported C34 Stag. It has the same "issue'. My previous car a Jan '93 32 GTS-T was completely stock when imported in 2002 also had this.

Going to have a close look at the GTR and see if it's the same. Never bothered to check it.

I should run a pics of string down the side of the front and rear wheels to see what that like in terms of alignment soon. I do wonder what it will align like I remember a guy doing an alignment in it like ten years ago saying something about it but he was a major wanker and I didn't think too much about it at the time because it had skinny wheels (18x7.5 +30) and the car drove straight/fine.

It is annoying because I have 18x9 + 22 on it now and they fit one side but not the other and if I could balance if out somehow they might just fit :)

Can you take a pic and post up your Wheel Alignment sheet

Have you gone back to the professionals who did the alignment and asked ?

(King pin angle, thrust angle and track difference)

I have 18x9.5 +12 on a 32 GTR with 265's. They fill up the guards. I'll measure and post up tonight if it's out.

The workshop that built the car did the alignment work and didn't mention anything so fingers crossed.

Sorry mine is a lowly gtst. Richard sorry mate haven't had a wheel alignment for a long time (so no paperwork), haven't driven it for years either. I will be taking it for one in the next few months though ( just put UAS front camber arms in), all the pieces are finally coming together. I can take pics in the next few days, I don't think there is that much difference in the camber from side to side though.

Without having done a proper investigation and just speculating it looks as though what is sticking out on one side, might only be 10mm in my case but could be as much as 15mm, is missing (sitting in) from the other side.

For the meantime I am just running 33 gtr wheels and they fit ok with I think 235 ( could be 245) re55s but it's sitting on the bigger set of wheels and it is definitely noticeable and annoying and something I would like to get to the bottom of at some point.

My s15 on the other hand is perfect lol

#@wannaslide - Adjust your toe for starters

Just realised from your first post you mentioned 15mm out in comparison to drivers side

Try 1.5mm fronts L/R and 2.0mm rears L/R

I'd take it into a good alignement shop as I posted above & ask them. Advice is free

although to fix is not. It just could be your frame or rear axle are out of whack !

I had it in for a wheel alignment a few weeks ago, and he didn't mention anything. The thread is 15mm different according to the guy that did my wheel alignment the toe is set to zero both sides, but I'm not to sure they're that good at it lol so I will be taking it somewhere else soon, being track only makes it abit of a pain to take somewhere.
