mcholden1
ive recently put a rb30det into my vl commodore and ive wired it all up. the engine cranks it sputters but just wont fire ive checked the compression which is around 150psi per cylinder and checked that each coil is giving a spark which it is and each injector is injecting. if some one could help me out that would be greatly appreciated Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/ Share on other sites
r32-25t
Check fuel pressure and make sure the plugs are new and make sure the fuel lines are on the right way around (seen that done before) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299576 Share on other sites

mcholden1
i made sure the fuel lines where around the right way and the spark plugs are brand new. ive hooked up the afm but im not sure if its grounded or not when i wired the computer into my vl i wired in the two constant positives and the one ignition wire Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299758 Share on other sites
Ben C34
As this is really a conversion it doesn't have much to do with the fact is an rb2530. . Wiring can be a nightmare. And extremely hard to find a mistake online. What ecu and injectors? mcholden1
i have a feeling its a vacuum leak im running some 850cc injectors high imp i do have other injectors that are smaller cc rating and running a r32 rb20det ecu i have two ecus as well\ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299765 Share on other sites
Ben C34
Well I seriously hope your ecu is tuned for those injectors. .... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299769 Share on other sites
mcholden1
yea one of the ecus have been tuned for the injectors all i want is to run it in with the standard ecu other wise i have a aftermarket ecu that i can wire in and try that straight of the mark Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299773 Share on other sites
scotty nm35
It will run a little rich with the stock ecu I am guessing. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299808 Share on other sites
mcholden1
yea a little so frustrating tho the engine doesn't sound like its sucking any air in but hoping i dont have to pull everything apart again Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299810 Share on other sites
portaz
Not sucking air? How do u mean? If it's got compression it must be but put your hand over throttle body while crankng if your not sure Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299832 Share on other sites
mcholden1
yea thats why im confused it has compression and ive put my hand over the throttle body and i cant feel it suck which leads me to think theres a vacuum leak Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7299840 Share on other sites

scotty nm35
Pull the plugs, I am guessing they are well fouled. Once you realise we are correct, you will need to re-fit the stock injectors and replace the plugs to get it started. Ben C34
That's hardly surprising it wouldn't start with huge injectors on an untuned ecu........ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7300244 Share on other sites
PSI086
I was thinking the exact same thing. I've seen one with a set of 440's in it and a factory rb20 ecu and that only just ran Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7300899 Share on other sites
Dose Pipe Sutututu
isn't it just common sense? bigger injectors on a factory ECU programmed to control factory sized injectors.. a simple analogy could be a garden hose water gun Mist Setting (factory injectors) - press trigger half way, just the right amount of water for plants Retard Jet Setting (larger injectors) - press trigger half way, water sprays everywhere hits neighbour and her shirt is now see through. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/443860-rb30det-wont-start/#findComment-7301180 Share on other sites
