The start of my DIY LED tail light project. will post more pics as I get more done. Today I removed the lens's and painted the reflector matt black. also made up some black Perspex panels to mount the LEDs to.

I'm sure you've thought of it but you may need to get some load resistors to put in to the blinker loom. With LED's replacing the standard bulbs they'll all blink a bit fast... Unless you want that effect :)

Finished. Top half done in plastidip. I would like to see them painted to match the color of the car eventually. Also paint around the reverse/fog silver as well. And tint the lower half. But seeing as the car should get sold this weekend I guess that all won't happen.

I didn't realise how hard it is to take pics of LEDs lit up!

Thanks mate. There actually brighter than my top middle brake light (it has tint film on it though.

What you can't pick up in the photos is the globe flashing behind the blinker LEDs. I left the globe in so i didn't have to put in line resistors in or mess with the flasher unit. For each time they flash and glow behind the LED card the LEDs scroll through six rows 2 rows at a time, plus you see the globe flash behind the card. So i think its more than enough. Time will tell.
