Trans Temp Gauge Sensor - Best Place For Sensor?

Hey guys, where is the best place to rear the automatic transmission oil temp?

I was thinking about between the return line from the cooler to auto, but just watched a youtube vid (yank) where they installed it directly into the box itself.

I would want to know the temp of the returning oil, so you know if it's time to slow down or not, and to see if the cooler is working as it should.

I ran mine in the trans return line, after the cooler and thermostat.

Yeah that was what my first thought was.

Would you happen to know how I can determine which is the return line on a RE401A?

Not to sure how to separate them myself. lol

Why don't you put a long piece of clear hose inline and watch which way it pushes through.

Return line is on the passengers side on the RE4R01A in my R31.
