How would i go about making sure this part is working in the same way as the origanl.

You mean once you install it? Start it up and drive it. If it doesn't shit itself, then it's working.

You probably need to understand that this sensor is juts a pressure transducer. It will convert pressure measured on a piezoelectric into volts. Most such sensors are 0-5v output. Most Nissan turbos run about the same amount of boost - regardless of whether we're talking about old petrols like the R34 or newer diesels like the Navara. And here is where it gets interesting. Assuming that the Navara runs higher boost (it probably does, being diesel) then if there is any difference at all between the R34 and the Navara sensors it will most likely be that the Navara unit puts out less volts for a give pressure (ie it will be ranged higher). And this is good because if you put it onto an R34 ECU then the ECU should think it's seeing less boost, and you can go do a little dance and walk away happy.

Now, given the likely price of this sensor I'm surprised you haven't just bought it, fitted it and been happy already. I would have.

Just plugging it in and running the risk it doesnt do damage doesnt sound like the best idea. If it does read slightly different then a tune would fix it only problem is the location of the car is kalgoorlie.

If it sends lower voltage for the same boost level as the standard one then the euc would think its getting less air then it is and inject less fuel causing lean wouldn't it.

Well if thats the case happy days. So why if it only uses it for protection does the car run like shit now even when its plugged in. Do you have any ideas why did the tuner bother to fix it when they installed nistune. Im not trying to be smart.

It has to work, or the ECU doesn't like it at all. Many have tried to run Neos without it plugged in and failed. If it is electrically borked it is quite possibly equivalent to not being plugged in. I don't think even turning off the flag for it in Nistune compensates for it not being plugged in (I haven't tried it on mine) - and that assumes that the guys tuning it know you can get around the sensor's boost cut by turning off the flag. They might not have known. And of course, they might have had to fix the sensor if it was broken in a way that meant the ECU thought it was effectively unplugged.

The little air tube has broken off it was cracked and they glued it back on but has broken again. i remeber them saying they only found it as the ecu was seeing boost fluxuations. something like that

Ive never heard of that place and no nissan was a last choice. After quickly checking Amayama comes up with the other part nissan said i could get.

Thats is not the correct one, its the gauge sensor.

Once you have the correct part number search here.... http://www.amayama.com/search/

To get the correct part number try here http://nissan.epc-data.com/skyline/er34/

Also Use their russian pages as they have pictures of the parts... http://nissan.epcdata.ru/skyline/er34/3952-rb25det/

Thanks heaps those web pages are very help full.

I found the sensor i want in the russan picture

Interestingly, i know of a GTT that gets driven daily that does not have this sensor present as it broke so I unplugged it.. Has no problems at all and has never missed a beat?

I'm under the impression now after everyones help that i have another problem and i only found this when i started looking.

On your diagram you will also find "14920" plastic pipes will break off. (valve control). That one doesn't matter much either

it runs one pipe to the charcoal canister to re-use the fumes. Again they're NLA and a replacement part off a Navara is used.

The plastic pipes are larger and the bolt holding it is larger so some modification required.

Go second hand on parts form a Jap wreckers. Any RB25 NEO motor will have these.

Cheap quick option

A few pages now. Perhaps take your car in and get a mech to identify your real issue/s.

Edit

Oh and if it's running like shit, not boosting etc..

Try looking at all your IC piping for a split or even one blown off

    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
