Couple of questions,

First, i just wanted to confirm the Oil plug on the RB30 block that goes into the turbo, is it the hole directly above the the Oil drain plug (just of to the left) with the tape half off it? (See below pic)

If not where is it?

Also where are the water OUT & RETURN holes? I know the water line INTO the turbo from the block comes from this side of the block but im unsure as to which one.

OK now second question,

The external wastegate i have has two holes, Presumably both are vacume. But where do i run the lines too? and which one goes whitch hole on the wastgate. Does one run from the plenum to the top hole of the wastgate and then one from XXXXX??

Heres a couple of pics to show the holes:

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Trev

OK,

yes the hole above the oil drain is the oil feed supply. The one towards the rear is the water feed, the bigger one with the flat face (because you use a banjo fitting with a copper washer to seal) . The water returns behind the block and into the block via the one of the big bungs on the other side of the motor in your second picture????

The lower hole on the right just has a bung in it and it's a factory water drain plug.

I assume with the wastegate, presumably the bottom hole has a pressure feed to it which regulates boost. Get a feed from the plenum inlet. Boost will be regulated by the spring rate. ie with a 15psi spring, with just a feed to the bottom you will get 15psi. However if you want more, you need a boost controller/regulator, which feeds normal pressure to the bottom and regulates how much pressure to apply to the top hat which equalizes hence regulating a higher boost level.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

here is a pic of my turbo on the car

not bolted on.. but the nut closest is the one that it needs to goto.

The one in the first pic is WATER and the line in the 2nd pic Is OIL.

Sorry about the quality of the water pic - did this a while ago.. If your not sure where that is exactly I can grab you another pic if you want... just head out with the digi cam :D

But see if you like that one first.

I don't know about the wastegate as i dont have one..

take it easy mate.

Good Luck with it.

The two black fittings in your pics go to the heater core. The pic below is the setup used on a N/A VL. As my crusty photoshop skills show, turbo VL's have a small pipe (circled) which goes round the back of the head and into the turbo. The other water fitting is as riceline and low747 says the upper right fitting on the exhaust side.

It's a factory coolant drain plug. it normally just has a bung in it.

With the external wastegate. You have a normal vacum/pressure feed going to the bottom port, now add a t-peice into this feed and run that into a regulator (needle valve) of some sort, now this goes through the regulator to the top of the wastegate, and that is how you regulate boost, by adjusting how much pressure get applied to the top to keep the wastegate valve shut..

Hope this makes sense.

cheers.
