So today I was driving my r32 and the rear line where it's been looped for hicas delete came off so it sprayed p/s fluid everywhere and my steering got really stiff. I got home and put the line back on then filled it back up with power steering fluid but the steering is still really stiff. The pump is making a weird noise kinda like a creaking sound but it's pretty loud. Is it possible that my pump shat it's self from not having any fluid? Just making sure it's the pump before I go out and buy something that wasn't needed.

Air in the lines/pump

Probably has a bleed valve like the brakes to let the air out

or apparently go from lock to lock with the steering wheel and check the fluid. Fill as necessary

Yeah I did it with the car running, I drove it for like another five minutes with no power steering when it happened because I thought the belt just snapped as it is on the way already.

Yes it did look a little frothy, the reservoir wasn't filled to the top it's was like 1/4 full because I ran out of power steering fluid. I put 1.2 litres in it?

Just a guess if you've bled it properly.

could be time for a refurb of the pump which may have been damaged when the line came off and no fluid passing through

no more froth in the reservoir ?

Just by chance I think I still have a good one in the garage.

If yours is fubar drop me a pm. It'll be what ever it cost me
