Fault Code 54 R33 Rb25Det

My r33 has been surging when car reaches standard operating temperature. When I check the fault codes it shows a code 54.. Which is A/T control. But here's the kicker we did a manual conversion about 2 years ago and did the splicing of the auto cable and has run fine up until now.. Any one had this problem? Or know how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Code 54 is for AT control, which means that the control line from the AT computer is down - shouldn't be a problem.

And define "surging". Could it be any of the normal causes for engine misbehaviour that we all know about? Such as AFM needing soldering, cracked coils, etc etc?

Have soldered the dry points of the Afm might need to be done again tho.. Just over pulling every thing down to find one small problem lol.. The coil packs might need replacing.. Anyway to check these?
