On top of the spoon feeding, I was going to say that 260+rwkW is TD06 territory. First time I saw it was on the JMS car waaaaaaay back at the end of last century. 265rwkW with a loooooong wait until boost came in.

TD05 might stretch that far these days with the help of E85. Might. Wouldn't count on it.

H ah aha... with the welded on box to mount the wastegate off (on the standard manifold)?? is that the one?

I'll venture to say that short of 12:1 CR and methanol, your not going to get rb25 turbo response from a 260rwkw turbo on an rb20.

Here are your options:

1. An rb20 highflow from hypergear, will get you into the early 200's (call it 210-225rwkw) and will come on very similarly to your rb25 turbo, with a good spread of torque and still be light and revvy.

2. A td06 18g with an 8cm rear, will give nothing untill 4k but give you the old school turbo hit and a butt load of mid/top range torque and decent power.

3. Something in between that will not quite make the power you really want, but will be annoyingly laggy for the end result....

I love rb20's and to be honest the most fun I had with one was with a stock turbo.... An rb20 highflow that comes on nice and early that delivers 220rwkw will be a much quicker car on the road 90 percent of the time that a 260rwkw rb20.

thanks xrated that's more of the type of help I was after.Thats the thing with these forums.there either really helpful like yourself,or they spend more time filling the forum with shi@ about how your questions been covered before.obviously I haven't found what I was looking for or I didn't understand what ive found. If people have nothing useful to say why talk, let some one else on the forum that enjoys chatting do the typing...

Ok.

Where's my thanks.

Nevermind

.

I am so surprised that with all the info available easily to you you still need the spoon feeding.

Good luck digesting the info thrown at you

Be sure to update us with your achievements at the end of it.

And by the way these forums are very helpful, even when people don't spoon feed you.

The fact that tonnes of people share what they have learnt and their results and that that is able to be searched by anyone is priceless.

Back in the day you wouldn't just walk up to a guy at the track and expect him to tell you exactly how to make your car fast like theirs, then blast them off they only five you a little advice, they would have laughed at you.

But now is just expected people will take their time to help complete randoms.

Welcome and good luck with your goals.

In the future could you take a little time to make your posts easier to read? A little formatting goes a long way.

maybe drop in a RB25DET and just buy a HyperGear high-flowed turbo for like $800 (not sure if he has that special still).. will pull heaps harder than any RB20DET and at the end of the day cost you a few thousand dollars less too!

Gees ben.ive posted what mods I am going to do.what I am trying to chase and your saying my post isnt clear enough.ok your entitled to your opinion.if you can point me out where I can find the info I need, rather than telling me to search, even after Ive already said I cant find what im looking for due to the rb20det "how to" post not working.i will be grateful. The second last page you referred to in the rb20det turbo page did not answer my questions and I have searched that forum before.

Huh.

On the second last page of the rb20 dyno thread there's a result from each of the turbos you mentioned. Both falling a fair way short on your power goal.

Surely that is helpful. I suppose I could have linked the specific posts but can't while posting on my phone.

The forum search engine sucks, as do pretty much all of them.

To search a specific site (tgis one for example) use Google and add

Site:/skylinesAustralia.com

to the end of your search terms.

Eg

Rb20 td06 site:/skylinesAustralia.com

Call hypergear tomorrow and ask for the most responsive turbo that will make 260rwkw on an RB20. Stao will sort you out since it sounds like you don't really know how to find the information you want.

or you can go to somewhere like CRD and hand over your credit card. If there wasn't a market for a service like that then these businesses wouldn't exist.

if E85 is an option for you then you can make more power on a responsive turbo which is nice.

If I were you I'd put an R34 Rb25det in with a hiflow on e85 and make a more responsive 340ish rwkw than your RB20 set up could ever be

The neo 25 did cross my mind but the cost put me off.it is only a gtst so I wanted to try to keep to a sort of budget.maybe im aiming a bit to high.i love the 20.i suppose im just trying to get it right.some say highflow the 25 turbo others say too laggy. I will ring hypergear tomorrow.the only thing I have to judge by is the rb25 turbo I have atm.the kinugawa seem cheap but which one is another story.maybe we need a post with lists of turbos and how they respond all on one page just for the rb20 as it is a critical choice.this is probably already out there and I just cant find it.cheers all.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
