Hey guys,

firstly, i've researched alot and this is more for second opinion.

I'm moving to a signle turbo high mount set-up, i looked into GT3582R, 5858, 6262, and GTX3076. My mechanic reckons 3082's the way to go, but im of the mind that a GTX3076 is what im looking for, im aiming for a responsive 320-340awkw on 98. my plan is T3 6boost mani, into GTX3076r .82 A/R into 3.5"dump back exhaust. It just seems that the 82 housing is too large on a GT30, plus garret doesnt advertise them so custom match nowadays?

From what ive plotted on the compressor map i believe the GTX3076 is what im looking for. My question, is it worth going T3 split pulse and twin scroll, will it actually affect response? or just go single scroll T3? or would going the 3082 with twinscroll T4 be on the money?

Additionally will going to the 1.06 A/R be noticably laggier given the relatively small/light compressor housing? worth looking into to meet my power/response goal. The car is my daily but will be seing track work.

Assuming you're running the R32 V Spec in your sig.

GTX3576 with 0.82 T4 split pulse should be close to the mark.

I'm not entirely sold on the GTX3076 combination, but a single scroll T3 1.06 housing should give some good turbine flow capacity for high rpm breathing efficiency. I'd think a 0.82 housing would restrict the usable rev range - not what I'd want from a RB26.

RB26 won't pull too hard under 3500 anyway, but either of the suggested combinations should do a fair job between 4000 and 8000rpm plus.

There is probably 200 rpm difference between the .82 and 1.06 from my experience. The larger housing will feel much punchier when it comes on as it will improve top end torque.

Why 98? A GTX3071 would do that power if you went ethanol, with much better response.

Dale good point, i having been studying the compressor maps, and it seems to point that the GTX3576 is at higher efficiency at fractionally lower airflow, but overall slightly less responsive, although twinscroll .82 i thionk would be a pretty nice steup.

Scotty - im planning on 98 since ill be posting to Wagga Wagga next year for 12 months and will not have access to ethenol fuel. i anticipate once i move back to Brissy on moving to an e-flex setup.

i was unable to find a Garret T4 divided housing option for the GTX30/35's though, is that an ATP rear housing option or something?

I am surprised I am the first to suggest this, however a FP 3582HTA with a garden variety T3 housing would likely be a much better thing all over.

In a previous results thread it was back to backed on some form of Audi, showcasing that the 3582HTA spooled closer to a GT3076 but was roughly on par for power with a GT3582.

Now I don't want to the one to flog a dead horse, though the 76mm GTX wheel hasn't really had any big wins with anything we've seen so far. Certainly not like we have seen from the GTX3071 nor GTX3582. I believe even the GTX3576 result on this forum wasn't overly 'wow', either.

I fit my old GTX3076 into a customers 34 the other week, using a Kando rear housing, it made 380kw with a built auto at 25% slip. It maxed Trent's hub dyno putting it into emergency shutdown due to the massive torque it produced. I think people are giving the 76 the raw end of the stick personally.

i Looked at the HTAs, the 3582 is bigger then what im looking for; this is a DD with a little trackwork but the daily part really is the considering factor, but the HTA3076 looks like its a nice peice of kit. Does anyone have any experience dealing directly with FP? i;ve heard people say they can take weeks and weeks to "prepare and deliver" products, i understand theyre overseas, but... i dont want to wait a month after order. plus im not sure if the extra $$ will be justified vs a GTX, there surely cant be THAT much difference between them (yes they are different compressor specs)

it has gotten me thinking though.

    • Gas MIG for learning, I was able to weld up some nice 1.6mm tubs so you can do thin stuff easily enough. Then moved on to thick caliper adaptor brackets with the same machine, all good.  Arc/Stick is great for dirty garden work etc, but Gas MIG for starting on car stuff.  Jump on the NCR FB page and search ATP Tubs or GKTech caliper adaptors for pics/info. I'm no pro but it wasn't hard to learn. Be willing to grind and go again though if it's cold etc.

    • Ok, so first round of maintenance done. I didn't get much history with the car but I know it was well looked after. That isn't enough for me though, so ...  I had to do the oil filter housing gasket. It was leaking a lot, and also as part of that I did the anti-return valve and the VANOS oil line (from HEL).  But, then I got hit with the while-ya-in-there's. Did both accessory and A/C belts, tensioners and pulley. The accessory belt that came off had a huge hole in it, like somebody hung it up with a nail. The pulley and tensioners seem ok, so I'll keep those just in case. I did water pump and pump pulley. The water pump had a small bit of play so timing was good.  I also did fan clutch. I don't know how to test the old one but between the water pump and the fan clutch the car is running a little bit cooler (not much ~2 - 3 degrees maybe) so good result. Unfortunately the thermostat and housing didn't turn up in time so I'll shelve those. I have no concerns at all on the current ones.  Then I spent what seemed like 40 days and 40 nights bleeding the air from the cooling system. She also got new air filter, fuel filter and did a Mobil 1 change with oil filter. Hilariously, not an hour after telling my wife how proud I was of myself to be going slowly and meticulously and making sure everything was torqued and nothing missing I went and started it without the oil filter in. The car complained immediately of no pressure and after only a few seconds I turned it off and discovered a shit tonne of oil on the driveway. Sigh. I've driven it since and thankfully doesn't seem to be any problems. AND THEN during the test drive a ratchet extension fell into the battery area in the boot and JAMMED right next to the positive terminal and the car body. Like, just touching it made sparks and it was jammed in there. So, almost killed the engine and then almost burned the car to a crisp. Good start. This was the rails under the splash guards. So stoked, she's straight as and super clean. No rust anywhere. There was a heap of caked dirt that I removed but otherwise looked great. All 4 jacking points are perfect.   Next I want to service the gearbox. Sometimes it's a little reluctant to shift up and I'm hoping a fluid change will sort it. I also have 4 new rear subframe bushes. They're as big as a toddler. I'm renting a tool to help put them in. I can't wait for this because its a bit crashy back there at the moment.
