Faawks
So I'm trying to get this car prepared for rwc and I noticed the front and rear washers aren't working. I pulled the plugs off both of them and checked them with the multimeter, both sides of each plug are acting as a positive until the washer is activated in which case one becomes a negative. Is this normal or do I have a short somewhere? I'm yet to test the actual washer motors themselves, I will when I have time. 89CAL
How are you checking voltage? Seems odd to have positive on both sides then a negative when the switch is activated There should be power on one side always, then activating the switch puts it to ground 20amp fuse for the front (fuse #24) and 10amp fuse for the rear (fuse #1), keep in mind this is for the whole system, so wiper arms as well. Other then that the washer circuit itself is pretty straight forward, ACC power in from the fuse, through the washer motor then grounded through the Wiper switch/stalk Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/444689-washers-not-working/#findComment-7317664 Share on other sites
Faawks
Well I had the negative of the multimeter grounded and touched the positive into the connections in the plugs. All 4 came up above 12v. I'll use a test light to do the same test later to confirm my own results. 89CAL
No worries. Some people just don't know how to use multimeters. That's the only reason I asked I'll have another look at the diagram later and see if it can/does get a back feed from anywhere You could try unplugging the wiper module from your engine bay and do the test again (it's rear engine bay passenger side) as this tees off the washer circuit to bring the wiper on. Seen as the issue is on both front and rear I'm not sure if this will make a difference or not Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/444689-washers-not-working/#findComment-7318082 Share on other sites
Faawks
Thanks mate, my next day off is Thursday so I'll investigate the issue further then. It also has sprayers connected above the intercooler but from what I can tell it's all on a separate circuit connected to a boost switch. Faawks
I was walking around supercheap the other day and saw that they sold universal washer motors, bit the bullet and bought one to test with, worked on all cases, so somehow all 3 motors have died at the same time.I'm trying to see if I can find replacements now.
