I have recently blown my series 1 r33 rb25det motor and i had bought a series 2 motor to swap it out the motor itself is fine, after i had swapped the motors over it wouldnt crank i get dash lights and i checked power at the starter switch checked all relays and just basically started going through the wiring to find the fault i thought it might have been the alarm/ immoboliser playing up again because it has never been to great to begin with so i ripped that out and still nothing tried to bridge the starter still nothing

running out of ideas but i thought i would try on here to see if anyone else has had similar problems

is there anything that needs to be changed from series 1 to make the series 2 motor crank

i have swaped over the amplifier igniter and coils as they didnt match my standard loom and just in case i also swapped out my CAS

running out of ideas please help

Is your car manual or auto? Did the S1 have VCT? You might need an appropriate ecu (and loom?)to make it work.

But if you shorted the terminals on the starter and it wouldn't turn over then something more basic is wrong. Does battery still have enough charge? Is it properly earthed? Starter motor is not jammed?

hey mate the starter is good i reconditioned it so its as good as new the battery is 2 months old but i also jumped it to be sure chucked a multimeter on it and it was showing 13v so had plenty of juice

its a vct head im thinking i need the series 2 loom maybe one of the pinouts are different or perhaps the polarity of a certain wire

The starter is independent of the ECU. If the engine won't spin over on the starter motor, that is a completely different problem to the engine not starting / running. (I wish people would learn the difference between "crank" and "start")

When you turn the key to START, the solenoid on the starter should engage, and in turn the ECU gets a signal that the engine is being started. If the solenoid is not engaging, there is a problem related to the ignition switch. Have you tried giving 12V straight to the solenoid?
