So, had another trackday at SMSP. This time the north circuit. Had a great time with a group of mates.

Car overall was pretty good, and drove home from the day. I still think the car had more in it than I could get out. I really was stuffing up turn 2-3. So. I think there was a second to find going another 20m deeper into t1 (which is scary as fk getting down to the 100m marker), and putting t2-3 and the last complex together.

Couple of things to work on, car had a bit of a misfire when it gets hot. I think the intake temp is getting up late in the sessions. Second thing I need to start looking at coilovers as I think the teins have seen their day.

Couple of vids to come ;)

One of the sessions battling with the usual SAU suspects

I ended up 8th of 64 cars!

Ending up inspecting some tyre barriers nice and close. Really didn't enjoy hitting that kerb.

Cool stuff, looking at bit wide-eyed at the 0:38 mark in the 2nd vid :) What happened there, lost traction when jumping the kerb? It happens mad quickly when it happens eh

Yup, I went in too deep for a start so the car was unsettled, and even though I had hit that kerb with no issues before, this time it threw it quite sideways. By the time I straightened it, it was heading off to do some agricultural work.

So the car has gone back to live with its previous owner. Many happy memories in this car.

But, the next project is inbound, and it is a very serious step up in Motorsport. It's going to be eye opening.

    • I thought about ditching it but I was worried my bonnet would sound like a 90's Swift GTi sub-filled boot.
    • Have you found that you have to tighten your alternator belt once in a while? Mine has started to squeal again after the mechanic tightened it roughly a year ago and the engine starts up slow if I don't start it every day (think the starter motor is going out). It used to be if I don't drive it once a week I'd get a quick squeal on the belt but now it's every day or every other day. I might make a post of the start up sound.
    • I spent the entire of the long weekend going through my garage and I'm now, after 3.5yrs in this house, able to fit a car in. The garage is quite long and the back half has a high enough ceiling for a 2 post lift but it's going to just take too much space and I don't think I'd be able to get around the car if it was in the air. So, in comes the quick lift. It looks perfect. High enough to do most things, I reckon even getting a gearbox out would be doable.  Does anybody here have one? They're fairly cheap (~$3k) considering...  https://www.dtmtrading.com.au/product/quick-lift-portable-vehicle-hoist-3500-kg-worksafe-approved/ I'm also a bit of a non risk taker so I'd probably still use stands when under!
    • Well now we all see it! I did the same. Then cut it out. Then melted half of it. Then discarded it entirely. So... you're in good company.
    • I just replaced the god awful, sagging, crunchy bonnet insulation. It's something nobody but I see but it's been at me for a while.
