So recently in May I bought myself a 1992 Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T. I bought it with a few mods already on it:

RB25 Turbo with 360 degree thrust bearing, Split Fire Coil Packs, 550 cc Deatschwerks Injectors, Stainless Braided Oil Water and Break Lines with Speed Flow fittings , Front mount Intercooler, HKS Turbo Timer with auto meter boost gauge, Cusco strut braces front and rear , AVS Model 6 wheels, KYB shocks with King Springs.

Still yet to find out what it all means though. I still have no clue what I want to do to the car but for the moment I will be just cleaning it up and doing all the supporting mods to run E85 and hopefully by then ill know for sure what I want to do with it. So far I'm thinking on going trackspec/hillclimb spec as i prefer a car which handles over a powerful one. (last car was an mx5, and yes, I do regret getting rid of it)

Anyways here is a couple of pictures of it

The other day the Head gasket blew... Hopefully fixing it tomorrow

While the car is off the road I thought i'd take advantage of it and clean it up a little more.

These aluminum "things" used to hold the intercooler, this setup disgusts me haha, Such an ugly way to "improve" a car

IMG_5247_zpsd104a793.jpg

And I painted all the obvious bits black to make it a bit more stealthy while I'm on my P's

IMG_5241_zpsbdf5ff28.jpg

And started making a new bracket to hold the intercooler onto the car, this time out of steel to be a bit stronger but the design im using also should let it flex that little bit for tolerance.

Hoping to get most of it back together tomorrow so I can show the rest of the install for it

Looks like a nice car.

Typically head gaskets don't pop for no reason. Might pay pay to have someone take a quick look or dyno or go for a spin to see if it was pinging.

Car looks nice and clean mate. You should be right to jump on E85 once the car is cleaned up. Assuming you already have a turbo back exhaust and a bigger fuel pump.

Heads currently in the shop getting checked and if it's all good they'll clean it up ready to put back on. Pinging is an obvious sound isn't it? I really need to get it retuned and wanted to do it soon after i buy a couple more things but it might become priority now!

Got both of them :) should be fun when finished!

Welcome to SAU Angus! These R32 gtst build threads are getting crazy, it looks like a nice clean car you have found for yourself.

E85 seems to be the best way to make some cheap hp these days, have a look in the traders section http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/410989-all-new-walbro-460lph-e85-in-tank-fuel-pump-strainer-kit/ The other thing that might interest you if your keeping it registered is a Flex fuel sensor to allow you to switch between 98 and e85? Worth investigating as an option.

Thanks will remember that link for when I go to buy stuff for the 85 upgrade :)

Unless he plans on upgrading that turbo any time soon then I doubt he'll need bigger injectors.

If I can make 300kw on 550cc injectors then I'm sure 200-250kw will be fine.

What fuel?

E85.

The injectors were at their limit though and I wouldn't say it would have been safe at that limit, hence the reason for me going to 1000cc injectors but I thought what ever power a standard RB25 turbo could make, 550cc injectors could support that power on E85.

That's definitely pushing them!

For sure they would be fine for the op s requirements.

Got to work on the Headgasket the yesterday, this is what was achieved when finished, it was a mission do dissemble having to take off the plenum and intake runners before, it's a b*itch of a job like everyone described but it it wasn't THAT bad.

IMG_5249_zps781e0921.jpg

Another one a bit closer

IMG_5252_zps33e42158.jpg

Then I took the head down to the shop to be pressure tested, resurfaced and readied to put back on. While I was out I got a new thermostat housing and Nismo thermostat to put on. Next is to take the old gasket off and resurface it ready to pick up tomorrow morning :) I will finish off the intercooler stuff when the head is back on because the piping has got to stay off till it's all put back together. To show everyone how dodgy the last guy was here is his version of a bracket to hold the bottom of the intercooler

IMG_5255_zpsf25b5be6.jpg

that piece of metal can be flexed easily and i doubt it actually provided any support for the intercooler, it would have just stopped the intercooler moving too much. Anyways I have all the brackets made up for the new mounts, it's just a matter of finding where to drill the holes so i know how close and to what height the intercooler should sit. I will probably redo a new post with all the info so others can easily follow.

The nismo thermostat and the new shiny housing. it's only a thermostat I know but it's the first Nismo part i've ever purchased so a little milestone for me.

Congrats on rebuilding the car! Looks like it's shaping up to have some quality mods and at least some decent intercooler hangers :P Keep it up!

Today was one of those days where if something could go wrong, it did. When we were putting the exhaust manifold back on one of the studs snapped in the head so the head had to be taken back to the shop to be drilled out and re-threaded. The car was meant to be back on the road yesterday so it is starting to bug me now, I haven't heard the turbo in so long now . So I decided not to waste the day so i started cleaning up everything else I needed to and preparing it to drop the head back on. I ended up getting bored of that so i just polished some parts instead..

Strut brace has seen better days..

IMG_5265_zpsabc06c0b.jpg

And the bottom is even worse..

IMG_5266_zpsac93db84.jpg

Mind you this was done in 5 mins just with a bit of polish, I think i might sand it down and re-polish it properly tomorrow, this was just to see how well the polish worked (The polish gives the mirror effect, it doesn't get rid of all the "black" spots easily. I would have to sand it back to get rid of them)

IMG_5267_zps3555a3d9.jpg

And the bottom of it now..

IMG_5270_zps5133949a.jpg

Also polished up the bit which the top radiator hose connects to. Didn't get a before shot sorry but this bit was FILTHY.

IMG_5272_zpsa7cd5e12.jpg

Yes the cooling system is filthy, and yes it is getting professionally flushed when the head is back on haha.

  • 1 month later...

So since then (last post 4th of July) the car has sat in limbo due to a shop just not being able to do their job lol. BUT it's on its way back! Waiting on parts from Japan now so hopefully just waiting till next week for them.

So whats happened to the car:

- Cometic Headgasket

- New genuine Nissan 100,000km service kit (So waterpump, pulleys, belts, tensioners, etc..

- New Genuine Nissan heater hose kit. (Well... while it's all pulled apart  )

- Gearbox extension housing seal.

Probably a few other things when I find them haha. But i've bought a few other things while it's been away :)

New seat so keen to install this. yet to figure out rails and what not but should be easy enough!

IMG_3471_zps9f8f8c9d.jpg?t=1407650237

Got this to replace the cheap drift branded wheel on it. I think i need to get a deep dish Nardi though, So might try to sell this or swap for same styled Deep dish.

IMG_3213_zps42bbc18b.jpg

HSD coils, should be a good upgrade from worn out KYB Shocks.

HSDCoils_zps6b99ff85.jpg

A sub. Wouldn't usually do this sort of mod usually but all the wires are there already from a previous owner and I picked this one up free.

BIGsub_zpscdd0e896.jpg

Sorry for the poor image quality on this post :(

Just a big waiting game to get it back now ;)
