Never heard of them?

Pricing?

They are from GSL as well... Similar to the A1rm in price i think but 11ty times better!

I was trying to stop my full weight 34 on A1rm and had no chance, burnt 2 sets of pads in 60 laps or so... Swapped to Winmax and have now run 60+ laps without much sign of wear AND they stopped amazing, over and over without fade!

Cheers, good to know.

Would also like to know who's used the TRW pads, they are much cheaper.

Cheaper... Brakes... Not likely to end well :P

In saying that i am pretty sure i used the TRW fluid and it worked well lol

Call Greg @ GSL and he will give you the answers you need! Pretty easy to deal with!

Track only.... Winmax.... A1rm are garbage in comparison!

What are the Winmax like from cold? I run A1RM's atm as the car is used on the street occasionally but if the Winmax were better wearing for a similar price I'd switch to them.

What about rotor wear?

Worked from the minute i left the pits... Have not used them on the street as yet!

Rotor wear will be an issue i would imagine as would any aggressive pad... You can get varying compounds depending on your needs!

I noticed that you went for the 6.5 so I'm guessing the 4 or 5 would be better for a bit of street use.

What's the pricing like as I think the qfms were only around $130 or so from memory.

More if you're running bigger calipers like I am.

TRW Pads...

They have been around and known around Rally and track circles from the early 80's, heat cycle them 3 times and they become a serious track pad.

We know of a few rally privateers still running them today, they refuse to run anything else.

On my sons S2000, he had them and loved them, last pad change i upped him to EBC Red Stuff ceramic, many more $ extra and his says the TRW were better and he wants them back on the next pad change.

Yep, thats my advert, they are the ones.

Made in Spain by Lucas.

QFM are now made in Asia after talking to their agent a few months ago. (and for a while now but kept quite in the industry), cannot rember if he said Malaysia or Indonisia or other, but it was not china.

Well you're going to be biased, but what should my expectations be versus the A1RMs on my car?

S13 with S14/15 front calipers and standard rears, R33 Booster.

Slotted rotors, BM50.

Brake duct vents (home made though, piping from front air intakes to hub so who knows how well they work lol)

    • From the pictures I have when doing the job the flywheel is the same diameter, I don't think they're playing weird tricks like putting weights at the outer diameter to increase flywheel inertia or anything like that. The OEM flywheel is definitely heavier, but it's not a huge difference. Quoted weight savings of the clutch is 2 kg so I can't imagine the flywheel being lighter than ~7 kg. Kind of regret not weighing it before the clutch went into the car but as far as driveability goes I have no complaints.
    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
