Boost Leak?

Hey guys in the last week or so I've had afew issues when my R32 Skyline Gts-t hits boost. It's like a high pitched "hissing" sound. It seems to be loudest at low boost and seems to be coming from the passenger side footwell. Is this most likely a boost leak? It definitely sounds like a air leak of some description. Had anyone experienced anything similar with their Skyline? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers

had this oin my mates 33. your intercooler piping has come loose, if its in the same place.

Pressure test the intake and get back to us.

For everyone else's benefit. ....

Even if you are not 100% sure that you don't have a boost leak, pressure test anyway.

You will be glad you did.

Given apparent location of noise it could also be turbo gasket I suppose.

"Loudest at low boost" would be the opposite to the turbo gasket though. That's if boost is taken to mean RPM.

Either way. I have said it before and will say it again.

Pressure test.

You will be surprised what you find.

And it's easy. And cheap. Then if it's not that it's time to replace gaskets etc.

not necessarily....they can flap about at low boost..make a ticking sound...then squeel like a piggy at high boost.

Mine used to hiss. After whacking a dodgy speed hump (unintentionally), the ticking started.

Exactly. Much much much more noticeable at high boost
