Japanese Free Trade And General Car Prices

With the recent japanese free trade agreement going through, I can't seem to wrap my head around the concept still so I was looking for a bit of clarification.

With this free trade, will the prices of use jap imports drop, e.g R33s, R34s, etc. Along with this, I don't understand how in New Zealand, the prices for these cars is almost half as much as it is here. I always assumed it was due to the agreements and that this new free trade agreement would balance out the prices eventually evening them out with New Zealand.

Thoughts?
