Need Help For Rear Shocks Installation

I currently bought rear gas shocks and upon installing them they dont seem to be seated or mounted correctly. they bounce too much and they dont provide any support for the rear end in general, im wondering if i made a mistake while installing them or if i bought the wrong ones. As my name says im new to this so any help would be great!

Shock absorbers don't support the car. Springs support the car. Shock absorbers control the springs.

Are the shocks new or second hand? Adjustable bump &/or rebound?
