I went to Gatebil last year and it was the craziest loosest car event I had ever been too. The cars there were just insanely fast, I mean 1000hp Audis wheel spinning at over 200kph up the main straight was just mind blowing to watch.

This year we actually brought my clothing brand over to sell tee shirts. I am a graphic designer and for years I have been designing logos and designs for skateboard companies. I always wanted to start a brand for car guys like me, who love JDM and drift culture but want a designs that are not tacky or lame. So I started 101 Squadron

Last year I got to meet the owners of Gatebil and they asked to bring my brand over in 2014.

I am lucky enough to have a fiancee from Norway so it made things a little easier but we still had no time at all to organise our display. We had not been in Norway for 24 hours before we drove from Tonsberg to Rudskogen racetrack, meet with the owner of Gatebil and were shown where we would have our stand. All we had was a box of shirts and stickers and grandmas old party tent and table!! Our setup looked very dodgy compared to Drift Monkeys or Speedhunters and more resembled something you would see on the streets of bali, but I think that was the charm of it. We had people from all over the world coming up and having a chat and were surprised that an Aussie traveled so far with this many tee shirts!!

People were loving the designs and we sold out of most of the tees in the first day!

These 2 guys came and bought tees from me and later I saw them signing autographs. Turns out they are big Norwegian movie stars and are staring in the new Norwegian car movie "Burning".

Now for the cars...

Team Drift Monkey bought out Formula D driver Ken Gushi and Noriyayo's Alexi Smith.

2JZ's.... 2JZ's everywhere. Seriously if you are looking for one in Aus and cant find one its probably because they are all in Europe.

As a massive JZX fan to see this on the first day made me cry...

gatebil-2014-13.jpg?541

The crowd this year was massive, apparently over 60,000 people

You want crazy Gatebil engine conversions? How about a V8 with a monster turbo stuck in a Mitsubishi Evo?

The variety of cars at Gatebil is what makes it so amazing!

One of my fav cars was this Volvo 740 driven by Steffen Tveite. Basically its a Toyota Supra with a Volvo brick body but its different and looks so rad sideways!

Some of the engines there were just amazing... Super big turbos seem to be the flavour in northern Europe.

Team Yellows cars always look the goods and are always creating a ton of smoke. This s14.5 rocks an insane 1000HP 2J.

The other part of Gatebil I had never seen before was the aftertrack party, and I was not going to miss out this year. Lets just say it is insane and basically crazy music festival. The crowd was nuts and a totally different side to Norway I had ever seen. But it was all safe and great fun after a long hot day on the track.

Also got to chill with Bil Baldwin, the crazy bearded track official from Formula D.

gatebil-2014-221_e85632c1-c50b-42f1-a6c9

Unfortunately on the Sunday afternoon there was a very serious accident. It was so bad that they canceled the final of the powerslide competition. All the information can be found over the Gatebil website

It was a bad way to end what was a fantastic weekend. But still we had so much and it was a great way to welcome us back to Norway!! We will be at Gatebil 2015 and maybe... just maybe looking a little more professional without grandmas party tent!!

Awesome read, thanks for sharing. If you don't mind, I'll just leave this here;

Ha! yeah cheers, I actually chatted to Alexi after that run and asked what was up as you could tell that the car was not making the same sort of power. Apparently something got into cylinder 6 so it was only running on 5 cylinders. Still not a bad effort though!!

Awesome video! Nice variety, wraps up the event well :D

Where'd you get that Doev track without the vocals?

Just google f**kwithmeyouknowigotit instrumental Most of them are available for free online.

    • @Vee37 How much do you really care about finding these pads again? If your pads are quiet, work well and produce minimal dust, really isn't that enough? If you are set on finding the exact pads again, I suppose I'd do something like this -  Visit your local Jax, find out what brand of pads they carry. If the Jax workshop you previously went to had the pads on the shelf, then you can almost guarantee it will be of said brand.   I'm guessing you don't have the receipt for the previous work and pads. Can you visit a Jax workshop and see if they can look up your previous job to see what pads were fitted?  Still no luck? Put your stalker hat on, find the staff that used to work at the Jax store and ask them. Talk to local workshops, try to find out where the mechanics went to. Talk to Jax workshops, maybe they relocated to another workshop. When it comes to mechanics, its a small world. You'd be surprised how easy it is to track someone down. If these ideas don't work, shit will start getting crazy very quickly.... You could find out every brand and model of pad that fits that car... and try them individually ticking each off the list if it wasn't the one you were looking for.... If you go down this path your going to want to learn how to swap pads yourself, it is very easy, takes minimal tools and space. If you have room to park the car you have room to swap the pads. Plus you have the advantage of making sure all the brake hardware goes back in so they won't squeal!
    • You miss spelled bearings...
    • Just putting it out there, that's a decent list. You would be better off *not* doing *any* of that and buying someone else's modded car. Like mine. Or anybody else's. Yes it's lotto dependent and all this and that but that 70K (remember, double your guesses) could go elsewhere. Keep it stock, save your money, go lowball @Dose Pipe Sutututu :p
    • Does not mean what you think it means. The continual rising coefficient is the coefficient of friction that continues to rise with increasing temperature. Not "rising during a single stop", except inasmuch as the brakes should get hotter during a single stop. The RR would not be the best choice for a streeter. Yeah....no it's not. JAX would rummage around in the "shit pads we use for all shitboxen that come in here" and install those.
    • @Kinkstaah I've got my list.. but most of them is to do if I ever win the lotto
