The tyre is Bridgestone Potenza.

Does anyone have any long term experience with these?

Standard issue from Nissan for most of their vehicles in their range. Generally, pretty average performance but still better than the shitty Kumho KU31 tyres my compliance workshop recommended. I'm definitely going either Michelin Pilot Sport or Pirelli P-Zero for the next set. I doubt I'll be able to find the right size for the front so I'll stick to the all 245 set up I have now.

I think 245 all around is good really...Well then again I'm not a fan of running a staggard setup...Compliance put on Dunlop Sports Maxx for me...Am quite surprised how good they are..I expected them to be shit...Done 37,000 kms now and they can probably go another 10k? My tyres normally run out way before this haha. Next set would probably be Yoko Advan Sport, P-Zero or Nitto...

I've never heard of Nitto.

But was wondering how wide can I go with 17's before I'd have to change to 18's?

Has anyone had problems (tyre scuffing side wheel guards) when running 18's on Track Days???

Because when I changed 17's to 18's on my HSV Clubsport-VR, they scuffed my guards?

Had to bend out the guards to stop it, lol...

Also would anyone know these details below;

17" Rim Width? ie. 8"

PCD/Fitment Pattern? 5 x 120

Offset? ie. +42

Why would you want wide 17's on a V35 Sedan?

I would be looking for 8.5" or 8.75" x 18" wheels - good value and affordable + look good... I don't think you'll encounter any guard rubbing issues with these.

PS: For tires, if you're looking for bang for buck (affordable) I'd look at Achilles ATR Sport / Sport 2

it isn't about rim diameter.. you could easily enough go with a wider 17in rim to fit wider 17in tyres if you really needed to, there is no 'requirement' to change to an 18in rim.

I'm not sure what width you could go up to on a V35 before you rub on the guard.. it would also depend on rim offset, you would need to select an offset so you don't rub the guards or the suspension.

What I meant was... 17's are small on a V35 sedan! :P

Hadouken..I was referring to the specs of the above rims, if they would fit my PV35 Sedan or not...

Bolt Pattern on all V35's is 114.3mm!

Tyres for Nissan Skyline 2006;

Diameters: 16'' - 19''

Width (mm): 205 - 235

Tyre aspect ratio (%): 40 - 65

Smallest tyre size: 205/65 R16

Largest tyre size: 225/40 R19

Rims for Nissan Skyline 2006;

Bolt pattern 5x114.3

Diameter: 16'' - 19'';

Width (inches): 6.5 - 8;

Offset (mm): 30 - 45.

Does anyone run 19's on their PV35???

Or shall I stick to 18's for the track?

Those figures are wrong. you can certainly go with a wider tyre than that. I have 245 tyres all round on my sedan, and that is with Coupe 18s. which have a lower offset than the normal sedan rims.. I expect you could go at least a few steps wider if you have a rim with a higher offset than +30.

245s on 18x8 +30 rims come very very close to the guards on the sedan!

You can also go with a larger rim than 19in, if you select the correct tyre. personally I wouldn't due to how much road imperfections will be transmitted through to the body of the car.. but that is up to the individual.

You also CANNOT use 16in rims on a series 2 or series 3 V35. these series have larger standard brake rotors and nothing below a 17in rim will fit over the front calipers.

Just google it FFS. This isnt a childrens learning centre.

(You can run staggered wheel sizes if you want. But knowing your understanding of wheels it will probably end badly. Do some research, see what other people are running)

plenty of good explainations of offset on google, with pictures which will make it easy to understand. lower number means wheel will be closer to the guard.

Factory coupe tyre sizes with 18s run 245 rears and 225 fronts, 350z does something similar. my sedan came with coupe 18s with this setup.. I changed to 245 all round so i can rotate tyres. It also gives me just a little more clearance at the front with 350z springs.

Dont listen to these Guys, just get really, really, Fat tyres, Fat tyres are fully sick.

And sick wheels, chrome looks really, really good,

Dont worry about that offset stuff, you can fix it with a block of wood.

Do your 245/35/19s rub at guards 'INSANITI'?

Would I be able to run 19's at the rear & 18's at the front then?

Whatever this setup would be called?

Or should I stick with 18's all-round if I want to run Pirelli P Zero Semi-Slicks?

    • Breather for it. If it's anything like the GTRs it should run up to the top of a bellhousing bolt.
    • What basics? With these OBD1 ECUs it's not like the ECU will give you any real clues, it's not really doing any sanity checking of sensors/sensor data. My experience is actually a lot of sensors tend to be the source of the issue first and foremost, and checking everything gives you a direction to investigate. MAF/O2/STFT/LTFT should all kind of make sense. You can try little tricks of the trade like tapping the MAFs to see if it triggers a stumble, things like that. But once you've done a compression test knowing whether you have an air leak or fuel delivery problem is kind of hard to narrow down without sensor data. And you don't really know if all your sensors are making sense unless you can interrogate the ECU directly about what it's seeing for sensor data.
    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.

    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
