Power Loss On Downshifts, Bouncing Idle And Slight Hesitation At Specific Rev Point -R34Gtt

Recommended Posts

Sorry my bad. I assumed that going a 3L you would upgrade the supporting mods, water and oil pump, timing belt, clutch and at least a dyno tune. Obviously not the case, I apologise.

You can't do it without a timing belt. Water pumps are cheap as. The rb30 oil pump is fine. Shim the relief valve for free.

And I tuned it on the dyno.

Widebands are the best.

I also thought my car was running rich.

Bought wideband.

Observed AFR.

Changed fuel maps to suit.

Car running correctly.

See also:

Got tune. Cold start was terrible. Idle was terrible (17:1).

Made 30 seconds of changes.

Car running correctly.

Car tuned on E85. Corrections for 98 not entirely right (known).

Get E58 or something in tank after tank swap.

Made 15 seconds of changes in correction map.

Car running correctly.

Changed injectors from 1000cc to 1400cc.

Car not running correctly.

Made 2 minutes of changes to fuel map.

Car running correctly.

GET A WIDEBAND

Doing a RB25/30 conversion for less then $3k can be done IF you can do all of the work yourself and all good and well these guys say you can cause i did it is not a fair statement, you couldn't take you car to someone ( and not a mate ) and get it done for that, no way in hell

It also come to what supporting mods you do and to what level and how properly you do the conversion as we all know there are cheap way to do some stuff which isn't exactly the best way of doing it

So the real question would be can Ron do it for less then $3k done and dusted ?

Again with the wide band, if tuned properly you shouldn't need one, nice to have but not needed cause really you can only do so much on the street before it should be put on a dyno and tuned properly

^^ This really clever fellow here knows me more than I know myself !!

Yes.

It's based on many things you have posted.

For example.

You specified how exactly you were going to block up your bov return. And did it weirdly anyway.

Someone who knows what they are doing just does stuff.

I do really hope you can get the car sorted out.

22 pages on AFM vs. BOV lol

I reckon, sell Power FC, BOV, AFM - buy Adaptronics, block up BOV port/return dose & bake tyres all day

So in in Rons case it would go

Nistune, sell

Power fc sell

Adaptronic

???

Profit?

flutters is the shit man... you won't look back.. and no more reversion, no more stalling crap, no more dirty AFM, etc.

rip skids & be happy

True enough for anything over 100kmh with a power run. The 97% of the driving you use a street car for however can be done with a wideband and some tinkering. The power runs is what the dyno is for but that is really only a small fraction of the time (money!) it takes for a tuner to tune the car, but I agree - it's no dyno replacement.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
    • Try fabricating something like this and install it under the pedals? Not sure if it's legal or not....
    • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
