Gtr R32 Built Date Location

hi guys,

I have I strange question,

I have a GTR r32 which I have owned for 15 years now. It was a personal import brought into Australia in 1998. I bought it in 1999. then i noticed on the rego papers saying its a 1998 model. At the time it wasn't an issue.

Now I'm trying to find on the car the build date. looking at the plates under the bonnet don't say build date.

so anyone know where to look or is this normal?

Has the base of the seat belt got a date-tag sewn into it. That can be a guide. VIN will be exact though of course.

RTA records show it's a 1998 model.

RTA farks things up. They've got my BNR34 N1 down as 2011. It's been exempt from pink slip/roadworthy so far...

Not really an issue until someone try's to work out the value and goes by a Rego check on cars details.

Why do some cars still have Jap. seat belts and others are changed to Aus. spec as part of the comply?

Something to do with the personal import?

Depends weather it was done under the new system or the old system, under the new system they deemed it was safer to have the original seat belts in the car

And I agree with them as I recently ripped all the compliance belts out of mine and fitted genuine belts

Previous owner did this to my car too and gave me all the Aus. spec belts with the sale.

Those compliance belts were a dreadful installation, retractors bolted to a piece of plate which was then bolted to the car.

Yep I use to do compliance on cars years ago and I never understood why we were fitting belts that needed "adaptors" to fit, my compliance belts are now in the bin
