Why I'm here is because of my latest purchase! I bought it a few months ago, has gone through a few younger guys before me and before that was owned by some old guy, so it is completely bog stock apart from gay wheels I got with it.

So this is it; prepare yourself, its totally a grandpa car.

yeah, woo, super cool. not really. It came on 15 x 8 +0 steelies WITHOUT stretched tyres. I will let you imagine that, I wont hurt your retinas with such bad taste.

Anyway I'm making this post because I have a terrible habit of saying I will keep track of everything I do, then once i start someone asks me and I can never remember everything that i change - so i figured for this car as its starting with nothing I had better try keep track of everything!

its completely bog stock - or was - when I got it. It had a furious rb20e in it that was held in line by a glorious auto box.

Such rubbish, such slow slow rubbish.

Somehow with that rubbish i managed to smash a rocker completely in half, at the same time jam the cam with the piece, strip teeth off the timing belt and break it. needless to say this went down about 2 months into owning it and this has already happened;

So after a week or two of sitting, i could not for the life of me choose what to put in it - I wanted to be silly, I wanted to go LS but no, thats just gay. in a laurel especially. 2J was/is to much work and I didn't want another rb25 as I also own this bucket.

but thats another car and for another post if people want to know about it! It actually has cool shit and work done.

so I decided to do this, as it was for daily duties and will be driven everywhere as my 'reliable' and hopefully more stock than anything else car - I did the unthinkable.

Thats right. SR life.

I won't bore you all with progress shots - but I will leave you with a mods list so far; and a photo of the bay as it sits at the moment!

Also, if you dislike wrinkle black - stop reading now - i have a thing for it at the moment and this engine bay is going to have a shit ton of it.

List as of right now!

Engine:
Sr20det (low km's s13 import engine)
Low mount 4 into 1 manifold
Stock turbo
Stock injectors
Stock intake
HKS death mushroom filter
S13 crossmember and mounts
A/C delete

Gearbox
Rb20det box
Sr20det bell housing
Custom gearbox mounts
Nismo Clutch
Nismo Flywheel
Single piece tail shaft
S13 pedal box (brake and clutch)

The other usual boring stuff:

In bay front mount

Exhaust - 3 inch - 1 muffler, 1 hotdog and High flow cat
Triple core copper tanked and centered radiator
Walboro 255
Battery to boot
Turbosmart Boost gauge - got rid of the non-working clock.
Boost tee
Woodgrain Nardi
Front lip - club L?
Some hekkaz habiby sub and speakers and amp.

So! it hasnt been run yet, I'm a bit lazy and busy, but hopefully this week that changed and something actually happens! It goes for exhaust next week so it should be fine to roll after that!

Then once all this is sorted, running and getting me to and from work fine, I will add in:

Knuckles
lock spacers
2 way diff
Coils
Solid diff and rear subframe bushes
Adjustable camber/toe/everything arms

Then probably just a tiny bit of low on the s13 stocko's and call it a day! I just want a clean, functioning and tough little street car to fly under the radar! If i want loud, flame popping, attention drawing and silliness I will just jump in the cefiro instead!

Hope it is some peoples taste, SR's aernt my thing but I may as well give it a good go!

I just ran some injector cleaner through her. started roughly the first time after adding it but gave it the beans slowly upto 4k, Must have cleaned a few cobwebs out. another step in the right direction for the sub
    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
