Hi guys,

Been reading this forum a lot but joined only recently. Long story short - I had CD ERROR F0 for my 2001 V35 250GT sedan and decided to get rid of the factory kit.

I had done some research in sticky posts and Google. Most Nissan parts I can find will take more than a month to be shipped out (plus a tight budget - parts I can find will cost me >$500 for A/C control plus lid cluster) and I am inclined towards metra kits.

However, I have also heard that metra kits can be poor in quality - and they were designed for US G35s (which are 2003 onwards only and all are for 350gt - no G25 in that time) so I'm not sure if they can fit well to my 250gt.

Has anyone ever installed a metra kit on 250gt V35s? I'm looking at http://www.metraonline.com/part/Infiniti_G35_Dash_kit_99-7604B .

Many thanks guys.

If all of the comments and reviews of the Metra kit say they are useless pieces of crap, then why are you even posing this question?! Save up some more money and wait a bit for a genuine Nissan kit. Fullstop.

dash is the same, so it will fit.. but I wouldn't waste my money on a Metra unit. Buy a genuine double din facia.

Just be grateful you have a Series1. the Series2 genuine DD facias are very hard to come by and Nissan don't make them anymore!

It is worth the money to spend a get a genuine one. The buttons and quality of the metra is crap.

TThe genuine one blends in perfectly buttons feel nicer.

A lot of NM35 stageas had them factory. They're the same dash and everything.

Thanks guys. Didn't realise the metra kit is so shit - seen someone's previous post about how they installed a metra and thought it would be fine. Main reason to go for it was the long waiting period for JDM parts.

Looking for JDM parts now. Will definitely look for NM35 Stagea parts too.

Cheers all. Have a good weekend.

^^^ I have subscribed to this topic so that when fails (and notice I said when, not if), you come on here crying for help cos it fried your $1,000 BC module or something similar. Enjoy your rubber buttons .... ewwwwwww

F**k paying full retail price for a geniune piece of plastic.

I have sold many base model M35 s/h facias for not much coin. Why would you buy new from Nissan?

Have you tried Amayama?

Metra is overpriced shit.

I just installed a metra kit and it's excellent. does the job & everything works and fits perfectly.

Not everyone wants a bit of aids in their dash compared to oem. I was lucky enough to get one factory.

It's like comparing a proton to a Lexus. Both do the same job. But one is made nicer, will last longer and you won't look like a cheap Kent.

The metra looks so out of place.

Hi guys,

Did a lot of research last weekend on amayama, japanparts and JP-carparts, still clueless on the exact model number I need.

The guy at amayama insisted that unless I give him the exact model number he cannot provide any help/info (even when I gave him the model number, V35 series, year, audio configuration, etc) so I guess it's up to myself to identify the correct parts.

And then I sent him a list he said the parts are for original audio panel (not the double DIN) so yeah he cannot do it - unless I figure them out myself.

Would anyone happen to order the parts number before?

As far as I know I just need to order four items:

- lid cluster (68520 series - 68260AL500)

- AC control unit (27130 series - 27500AL500)

- rear bracket/mount (68153 series - 28038AL500)

- pocket (68475A series - 6847535F00)

Since I'm installing double DIN I will not need the radio mask 68470.

Now I'm just trapped by the millions of model number (AL500, AL502, AL710, blah blah blah) and amayama will not help me unless I tell them which one do I need exactly. I'm suspecting the lid cluster should be AL710 instead of AL500 but I'm not sure if AL710 applies to 2001 V35 (I know AL710 applies to 2003 V35 Coupes...).

If posting the above info would hurt anyone's business (or in any means) please let me know and I will remove them ASAP.
