Not sure if theres a thread on this already,

just saw that Shell is going to be bringing their own ethanol to Australia, they are using sugar can from Brazil..

Should create some good competition and ensure the longevity of Ethenol based fuel for us performance fanatics

Theres info on there page, cant seem to paste the link atm

Sweet. At the moment e85 seems to be a very niche performance fuel rather than an economical alternative.

Though why aren't fleets using the stuff where possible? Many new cars are flex fuel, plus you'd think government would or should have an environmental obligation if its a government run fleet.

Because the ethanol plants in Australia have already been shut down due to no support for the product

whut? they're were previously investing/investigating in lignocellulosic ethanol technologies only about 6months ago.

Bit of a scare tactic I think, to drum up government incentives.

I thought we worked out that plant is old and inefficient anyway, bring on solar distillation plants I say, then there will be no sooking about it's green fuel status. Should bring costs down too, not that we would see it at the pump.

Its true

the government is yet to decide but removing the grants given to those that produce ethanol is real and should be decided on soon.

If the grant is pulled then ethanol based fuels will die a sad death in Australia as its simply too expensive to import

I am also at a bit of a loss as to why Shell would be importing it when they are getting out of fuel in Australia
