Is It Possible To Install A Shift Light With Only A Stock Tacho?

im hoping this is the correct place to ask this question,

is it possible to have a shift light running off the original tacho instead of buying a monster 5" tacho?

i have a r33 gtst skyline and do not have the shift light or monster tacho yet so any suggestions to what would work best are welcome

I don't think so no, as the output from the ECU to the dash is a PWM square wave signal i believe. Happy to be proven wrong though, have a look through the R33 workshop manual and see what the tacho signal input is

There are stand alone shift lights available .

Gizmo make one.

Buy one of those shift lights that has the digital rpm readout in the centre.
